Surprisingly, Robert Downey Jr. is a conservative.

I just read a Robert Downey Jr. biography written by Ben Falk. Downey didn't help with it, but it was still entertaining.
Downey supported Mel Gibson when Hollywood turned on him, and he has this quote from a 2008 NYTIMES article.
I have a really interesting political point of view, and its not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you cant go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You cant. I wouldnt wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics every since.
(Suffice it to say he is not one of the Hollywood types who weeps over innocents trapped behind bars.)

No hes not. He gave money to Obama and attended a few Obama events. I'd heard that too... As I've read he's a fan of Obama.

He also still stands behind Mel Gibson. He doesn’t seem to care that Mel is persona non grata in LA.

Downey supported Mel Gibson when Hollywood turned on him... As Mel supported Robert when he got out of prison.

“Hollywood is very unforgiving of Conservatives in its midst and gleefully blacklists them.”
That’s why I was surprised to see that Jon Voight has a starring role in a new series on pay cable — HBO or Showtime, I think. I figured he’s never work in that town again.

When you’ve got to save your life, your sanity and your freedom through individual effort, it makes you prize individual effort; a basic conservative value.

Does that put him to the right or left of Romney?

Though I agree with CM on some things, and vehemently disagree on other things, here is a surprising interview with Robert Downey: Same here Eagle. But having heard Missler speak a number of times, I can say he isn't shy of sharing the Gospel and the need to receive Jesus Christ and Lord and Savior. It would be nice to hear Downey proclaim publicly that he had become a Believer if and when it happens.

I wish it were true and we can all hope he’s one of us but the facts show otherwise.
Either way, he doesn’t try to jam it down everyone’s throat since he’s been out of rehab. Before rehab, he was a frothing at the mouth lefty declaring hatred for all thing Reagan.
