Couple Asks Random Starbucks Customers To Name Their Unborn Child
The Consumerist ^ | July 2, 2013 | Laura Northrup

The regulars at my local Starbucks are nice people who seem like they have good taste. I would probably trust their suggestions for which new Frappuccino to try, or even their restaurant or hairdresser recommendations. I would not, however, trust them to help me make my major life decisions. Like naming my child.

And yet, a couple in Connecticut did just that. Using the same system the shop uses to vote for the barista of the month, they set up a polling station to decide between the two finalist names, Logan and Jackson. For random strangers to vote. On the name of their child.

WFSB news didn’t share the final choice, but did share some of the names that came in as write-in submissions. They will not be naming the child Latte, Hulk Hogan, or Barack Obama. Pity.

Flipping a coin also might have worked, but that wouldn’t get them on TV news.

No harm in asking people suggestions, so long as you don’t take it too seriously. By the way, how come nobody names kids after saints anymore? Logan or Jackson?

Any further questions?

Normally, I write off people that pick last names for their child’s first name as immature hipster dolts, but maybe this couple are just big fans of Civil War generals?

I live in Virginia and every year I have students with the first names of; Logan, Morgan, Tyler, Taylor, Madison, Mason, Marshall, etc....The Tylers and Taylors can be either male or female. I even had a girl with the first name of Reagan.

I’d tell them “Paycheck”.

Because these two are too damned stupid to ever be able to make a decent living by themselves, even if they can afford $10 for a cup of coffee.

My guess is that the longer and longer they keep overspending like that, they’ll eventually end up on SNAP, TANF, WICs, EITC, Section 8, etc.

Zappa didn’t use drugs. His weirdness was his own.

I went to college with a girl named Reagan, in Virginia, too! The fun part was that she was born in 1964 (born right after the Goldwate speech). When she came of age, Reagan was president!

"Zappa didn’t use drugs. His weirdness was his own."

Always shocked when I read things like that - like John Mayall kicking John McVie out of his band because of drug use.
I wonder how many other old rockers despised drug use?

Name the child “Here”. If twins name them “Here and Now”. My dog is named “Stay”.
