NEWLY DISCOVERED PLANET HAS GLASS RAIN AND 4,500 MPH WIND

It also has atmospheric temperatures up to 2,000-degree fahrenheit. And in case you didn’t see it in the headline: Glass Rain! 4,500 MPH winds! This place sounds awesome.

NASA discovered the planet, dubbed HD 189733b, in 2005, but recently discovered new facts about its atmosphere with the Hubble telescope. The thing is only 2.9 million miles from its sun, which sounds far, but consider that Earth is 92.9 million miles away from ours. To make matters even more insane, the night temperature can be as much as 500 degrees lower than the day temperature.

I’m taking the first commercial spaceflight I can, see you guys there.

It's less than 3M miles from its sun and it has an atmosphere?

Color me skeptical.

It’s a gas giant - from the sound of things, a binary companion that didn’t quite start fusion.

The sudden increase of volumes of diamonds on the markets would depress over all prices. The same would occur if a massive asteroid were found mostly of silver or gold, assuming it could be economically mined the same way Uranian diamonds would be.

*As long as it isn’t Chocolate Rain.

My kid used to play that just to annoy me.*

I work in a place where the phone plays the first few notes of that tune after every call!

* Too little Al Gore, too late.... *

If only gore had been there to set up a government to give money to so that it would come back to him in the form of carbon credits!
