Author Reza Aslan believes that Jesus probably lacked the education to read a book like the Bible. Or the Torah, or any other written text for that matter, no matter the language.
Aslans new book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth is a revisionist take on the life of Jesus, arguing that his message of love was aimed more at a Jewish audience than a global one, that his attitude toward violence was far more complex than is generally thought, and that he was very likely illiterate.
All of these claims appear to be directly contradicted by passages in the New Testament, but Aslan argues those lines are mistaken, misinterpreted, or deliberately misleading.
Aslan, the author of the bestselling book No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, was born in Iran and grew up a Muslim before converting to Christianity and then returning to Islam.

While the Koran states that Mohammed was illiterate (and hence unable to read the Bible that the Koran repeatedly parodies), the New Testament shows Jesus reading (Luke), and shows that He was a scholar of Jewish law, which He presumably gained by reading (but of course, being God, He was the source of the Law, and hence it all gets complicated.) Let's just say that God could read, since He invented books, reading, language, the Bible....
This Aslan fellow is a the real idiot.
Wait until Reza explains to the muslims that Mohammed didn’t really fly on horseback through the skies.
Luke 4:16-21
16 - And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 - And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 - The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 - To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 - And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 - And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
What idiots these anti-Christian writers are.
Jesus was reciting Torah in the synagogue as a youth...
(and he even impressed the Jerusalem Temple priests)
and he quoted numerous Hebrew Bible precepts and teachings, indeed he was steeped in them....and he taught from them throughout his brief ministry
Jesus was anything but illiterate (and it would be a silly charge to levy against him anyway, given all that he taught and all that he represents)
(and he even wrote something, we know not exactly what) in the sand...
Remember that part of the New Testament where Joseph and Mary lose track of young child ( Jesus ), and they finally find him in the temple where he’s impressing the Rabbis with his knowledge of the Torah...?
Until he speaks, in detail, about his position on all things Islam, he is just another propagandist, ala Joseph Goebbels.
That’s precisely what the Koran denies that Jesus is, repeatedly. (Well, Jesus certainly isn’t the son of “Allah”, to be pedantic.)
I’m always liked the theory that he wrote the names of the women that the men with the rocks had had adulterous relations with.
All of Islam is like this.
Who could ever forget it?
Unlike Mo’, who had a big steaming pile of koran squoze out of him by an ‘angel’
The Fifth Joyful Mystery. Jesus was twelve.
Those definitely are Satanic Verses.
(Boy howdy, are they ever in for a surprise!)
that would do it
He surely wasn’t a documented pedophile.
Muslims place a high value on illiteracy, also on subhumanity.
Yeah, I can so imagine Rachel Jeantel giving the Sermon on the Mount.
Well at least He wasn’t a pedophile like Mohammad.
