I have always enjoyed the many quotes Peter McWilliams included in “Ain’t Nobody’s Business if You Do” The book examines the folly of consensual crimes.
I was researching a particular quote regarding freedom the other day when I heard of the NAACP insistence that the Federal government penalize the state of Missouri because of the actions of a rodeo clown.
The quote I researched was :
The real freedom of any individual can always be measured by the amount of responsibility which he must assume for his own welfare and security. ROBERT WELCH
However, in the course of this research I discovered another quote prompted by the NAACP actions.
“It was not only forbidden to criticize Obama, it was perhaps even more forbidden to announce this very prohibition”
I modified the quote a wee bit but I included the quote correctly at the end of this post.

Perhaps the wisest observation regarding freedom is from Ronald Reagan.

The quote I altered is correctly expressed as :

Those who are children today will never have tasted freedom.
Certainly not in its purer more nutritious form remembered by the those of us who are looking at the imminent arrival of old age.
They will be unable to miss that which they have never known.
I’m thinking the Red Dawn remake might have been better if it had used middle aged and elderly actors who might have actually had an understanding and desire for freedom.
They could have called it Silver Dawn
And instead of fighting some BS nemesis in NK have them fight the oppressive US government and illegal invaders from the south.
I have long thought that much of the next War of Independence may be fought by elderly empty-nesters who may lack the fitness of soldiers but who have the will to fight and who are not afraid about the consequences. In a war of resistance, these things can go along ways.
The middleagers and up would most certainly be leaders from front to back.
I’m half crippled myself so I cant run through the woods but I can walk and I know my way around much of the county and I’m observant.
And in the remake it would be gay storm troopers sent from DC airdropping into our towns and cities to corral us into the camps.
Paula Deen and the Rodeo Clown made the same mistake, but in different ways.
After Paula Deen had Moochelle on her program, she casually remarked that the “First lady ate everything in sight”. This, of course, is in direct opposition to Moochelle’s stance on nutrition, and made her look like a hypocrite (which she is!).Paula Deen, because of her high profile and fame, had committed the unpardonable sin, which was making Moochelle look foolish.
Mr. Rodeo Clown donned an Obama Mask in a very public venue, so he made Obozo look foolish in front of a lot of people. Again, the Unpardonable Sin.
I respectively disagree. Men who had never seen freedom sought it at great cost. Perhaps I confuse someone missing freedom with someone yearning for freedom but free is man’s nature.
Good point. And one which gives some cause to have hope for the future.
