>London was one of only two cities to make the top five in EVERY category - the only other city that did as well was New York.<

.
As a young boy in a Japanese concentration camp I had a small map of Manhattan. How I wished I and my family had been living there because the people in that city were free. (But so was that pilot in that cool P-38 flying overhead.)

Now that I am a US citizen (been so for 53 years) NYC is the very last city I want to be caught dead in.

Braunfels, TX beats it all.

Indeed.

Every city I have been in, could not wait to get out of it.

Ipsos, a market research organization, recently conducted a poll...

Ipsos probably polled only "business" travelers, i.e., those traveling on the company's dime, staying at 4 star+ hotels and dining accordingly. After business negotiations are finished for the day, take in a theater show, etc.

I think that is a bogus poll. The respondents probably
picked the first big city that came to mind, or what they think is the most vibrant. All of them would be way down on my list.
If I had to leave here, and want big city living, I would go back to Bratislava, Slovakia, a nice city on the Danube.

The best place in the world to live is NOT in a CITY.

Open spaces and breathing the air of freedom is the most intoxicating of experiences. One from which you never recover.

RE: I would go back to Bratislava, Slovakia, a nice city on the Danube.

You said “go back”... I gather you used to live there... How does it compare to a neighboring big city — Prague?

I wonder how NY will fare under a leftist mayor? Guiliani really cleaned up the place and made it appealing for visitors. Bloomberg is not as good a mayor, but is at least understanding of how necessary a good police force is to a world class city.

I plan to visit NY in December. I figure it is now or never. If I wait until it begins to decay under idiot leftist mayors, my window of opportunity may be gone forever.

If Joe Lohta ( who was Giuliani’s deputy mayor and was beside him in 9/11 ) wins, the police policy that has been in place for 20 years will continue and NYC will continue to do well.

If ANY one of the Dems win, it’s downhill from here...

Sandpoint, Idaho

Mountains, big trees, and a huge lake. What’s NOT to like?

OK, anyplace in Idaho (except Boise and suburbs, I.F., Poky, and Ketchum ‘cuz of all the libtards who live there) is nice.

Unfortunately Idaho is all filled up and there are no places for newcomers to live. Sorry. Try Western Montana or Eastern Washington. Alaska is nice - trust me, I used to live there.

Thank you.

” How does it compare to a neighboring big city — Prague?”

Yes, I was in and out of Slovakia from 2000, but lived there full time from Jan 2005 to Jan. 2009, when I moved to Cebu.
Prague is also a nice city. I visited there on several occasions.
Another nice city is Vienna, and it is only about 30 min. from Bratislava. All of my international flights were in and out of Vienna.
Prague population is much larger, about 1.25 mil. Bratislava is just under one half million.
