In Hitler's Reign of Terror the American film-maker visited the town where the Nazi leader was "an unpopular kid" at school.
The first American film to warn about the rise of Adolf Hitler has been found in a vault in Belgium after lying unnoticed for 75 years.
Hitler's Reign of Terror features footage smuggled out of Germany, showing Nazi party rallies, book burnings and the ransacking of Jewish shops.
It was produced by Cornelius Vanderbilt, an heir to the wealthy US industrialist family, who visited Germany as Hitler was voted into power in 1933.

I don’t suppose the vault also included a number of Lon Chaney’s lost films?

The fact is in the 1930s, the Nazis had considerable sway in Hollywood (a familiar theme in Hollywood that goes on today), they heavily influenced Hollywood’s portrayal of the Nazis up until WWII...and their tone towards Hitler only changed when he invaded their beloved Soviet Union.

Yep. I’ve seen some books that went into detail as to which films (that predated Charlie Chaplin’s film) were shunned by the studios.
Part of the belief (besides political) was that they didn’t want to p!ss of Nazi Germany and see a potential film market eliminated (especially if America stayed out of the war).

Chaney’s films could be anywhere in the world. They located long missing footage from Metropolis in South America.
And I think some of Orson Welles films were found in Europe.

Confessions of a Nazi Spy with Edward G. Robinson released in May, 1939. Banned in Germany an other countries.
You Nazty Spy by the Three Stooges released in January 1940.
Alfred Hitchock's Foreign Correspondent was released in summer 1940, and included a specific appeal to Americans read by Joel McCrea. (It was a U.S. production, but mostly took place in England and Holland)
A few months later The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin was released.
Hitchcock made The Lady Vanishes in 1938 in England, in which the bad guys are clearly Nazis, although it's never made explicit.
There is a scene near the end, which is clearly meant to be a warning, and possibly a rebuke of Neville Chamberlain. A typical, stiff-upper-lip Brit tries to surrender to the bad guys and is shot.

Hard to believe this was never shown.

Great find Nick::::"The German embassy in the US protested, so the film was censored and adapted. It was then shown in other cities but with much less success," ...It's true the elites and many politicians were enamored with Hitler and Mussolini. Maybe like to-days politicians who admire Islam for its power over the masses...

Many then saw the Bolsheviks as the bigger threat, and Hitler could keep them in check.

It's very important and "has now been re-mastered and will be shown at New York's Museum of Modern Art next month."
Why not put it on youtube? Money?
This is art?

Remember, this was before the Internet. So Hitler's power grab and ensuing reign of terror was not documented on Free Republic and other patriot websites. Instead, we were spoon-fed the news through newsreels and newspapers. Heck, there wasn't even FoxNews or talk radio back then. We were truly at a disadvantage when it came to taking pre-emptive action against a ruthless, vegetarian, far-Left dictator.
And the folks in London weren't helping us at all. Instead, they were busy appeasing Hitler and declaring "peace for our time" while throwing the people of Austria and Czechoslovakia to the wolves.
Winston Churchill might just have saved the entire civilized world. Singlehandedly.

Mr Kempner died in 1993 and museum officials later took possession of some of his document collection, but the Rosenberg diary remained missing until recently. Acting upon information they received last November about the diary, authorities seized the missing pages after locating them in upstate New York.
According to the article, the "authorities" included the Justice Department (still grinding slowly) and the Department of Homeland Security. Odd that they were involved. Maybe the werewolves are still active in threatening America - or - maybe their Muslim allies are mentioned?
