For all you ice cream connoisseurs out there, something new is lighting up cones around the world. Check it out.
British inventors made an ice cream that glows in the dark. The ice cream gets its green sheen from a synthesized protein that makes jellyfish glow.
Its pretty cool to look at, but as far as the taste, theres no mention of that.
Lick Me Im Delicious is the company behind the concoction. Its main developer, Charlie Francis, had a more in-depth explanation of how the glowing ice cream works, saying: The protein we are using in the ice cream reacts with your tongue at neutral pH. So as your mouth warms up the protein it will raise the pH level and the ice cream will glow. And the more you lick it, the brighter it gets. But theres a catch an expensive one.
The luminescent treat costs more than $200 a scoop. So chances are slim youll be seeing it at your local ice cream shop anytime soon.
So why the high price tag? Well, heres a hint: On the companys Facebook page, Francis wrote, Dam those expensive jellyfish.
And man, is he right jellyfish luminescence is reportedly four times the price of gold.
Lick Me Im Delicious is famous for its odd ice cream flavors like beef, cheese and beer.
But the ice cream endeavors won't stop at glow-in-the-dark. Up next, Francis wants to work on invisible ice cream, although he admits, It is inherently impossible because of the refraction caused by the ice crystals which make up the ice cream, but I reckon we will find a way of doing it. (Via Yahoo!) Invisible ice cream? Makes you wonder: Whatever happened to rocky road or vanilla?
And it’s almost completely without devastating side effects.
Been there, met her, done that but not worth $200.......maybe $150
Look at the bright side, you won’t have to turn on the light when you, eh, defecate at 4 in the morning.
weird
I’ll just buy a carton of vanilla Breyers and a black light, next best thing. Cheaper too.
Down at Steve’s Ice Cream Parlor, for five bucks, they’ll give you a scoop of vanilla and shine a flashlight on it.
Ben & Jerry's will call it "Lewinsky Creamy."
no thanks
Shoot! We had glow in the dark adult beverages called nuclear reactors at the Horse and Cow back in the 80’s.
Does it make Glow in the Dark Poop?
“The ice cream gets its green sheen from radium.
Ah, but Garlic Ice Cream is free (with admission)
I would imagine that food that glows in the dark would be free in Japan these days.
Will your toilet glow later?
How long before parents allow their teenage (and younger) daughters wear the slogan on their shorts?
