An 'awwww'- inspiring video of a little boy in a plush tiger costume having a play date with a real-life tiger cub in a Washington state zoo has won over millions of web users in the past week.

The heart-melting footage was taped by Heath and Jackie Shaffer on Halloween, when the couple took their 2-year-old son, Marshall, to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma.

Initially I just saw the pix — I just watched the video now, it’s absolutely adorable, don’t miss it.

All fun and games until Momma tiger comes out and consumes the 2 year old. ...);^0

(Be careful of the cute cub distracting you, while Momma circles around from behind and nowhere to run....) Trust no wild animals.

In the clip, the two pals joyfully run back and forth along the barrier, with the 6-month-old Kali playfully pawing at the glass as if trying to reach out to her new friend.

From the article. Yes, the encounter seems 'cute' and little Marshall seems obliviously happy. It never ceases to amaze me at the trust some parents put in government to provide safety for their children.

Most people see happy child, cute little tiger and 'oh, what fun' the glass is there to protect my little Marshall.

I see government/city/municipal zoo and remember the term 'low bidder.'

The good news is that because of cronyism and affirmative action the government no longer goes with the lowest bidder. For instance a “minority owned” company gets a 5% bonus, they can be 4% higher than your bid and still be the winner.

Of course today the government hires the most incompetent companies for contracts. Take CGI Federal for instance.

Oh! I guess that makes all my fears go away then :)

So what you're really saying here is that it might be possible that the glass was installed by a minority bidder. And, probably not being sanctioned to the usual safety checks offs (again, preference based), the glass could break on a 'cat pounce' and little Marshall is toast.

I guess next we'll be told that little Marshall's parents will get a bill for the broken glass. :)

Anything is possible. I am sure that the over-expensive plexiglas or whatever it is is sturdy enough, if it was bolted/glued down properly. Hopefully the installers weren’t all affirmative action hires too.

The real problem I see is that the kid human is not being taught proper respect for the wild animal.

Someday that unlearned lesson will come back and bite him.

Probably literally.
