Skip to comments.Costco -- the Bible is fiction

What do the Bible, "The Hunger Games" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" have in common? All three are works of fiction, according to the booksellers at Costco.
Pastor Caleb Kaltenbach made that shocking discovery last Friday as he was shopping for a present for his wife at a Costco in Simi Valley, Calif. All the Bibles were labeled as fiction, the pastor told me. It seemed bizarre to me. Kaltenbach is the lead pastor at Discovery Church, a non-denominational Christian congregation in southern California.
He thought there must be some sort of mistake so he scoured the shelf for other Bibles. Every copy was plastered with a sticker that read, $14.99 Fiction. The pastor knew something must be amiss so he set off in search of a Costco employee hoping for an answer.
Unfortunately, he couldnt find anyone willing to answer his question (which is not all that surprising if youve shopped at Costco).
I doubt they would label the Koran as fiction, Pastor Kaltenbach said. Heaven help us if they did.
So does the warehouse store that sells laundry detergent by the gallon have a problem with the Word of God? I called Costco headquarters in Issaquah, Wash. hoping to get answers. The nice lady who answered the phone told me she was aware of the issue and chalked it up to a human error at a warehouse. Its all fixed, she said. But actually, its not fixed because theres a boatload of Bibles in the Simi Valley store still marked as fiction. At that point, the nice lady on the phone became not-so-nice and promptly informed me that Costco doesnt talk to the press.

I’ll have to go to our local Costco and find out if any of the fiction labeled Bibles made it to Houston.
Maybe it was just one Jack-Ass at this store.
The Koran should be in the toilet paper section
...or next to the bacon!
Find a bunch of ‘fiction’ stickers and start plastering the Koran with them. Let’s see what happens.
Oh, I’m good for them. Here in the PNW a bus service had these pro Palestinian adverts. I made up a bunch of Israeli flag stickers and plastered those signs with them. The local pro Palestinian org. threw a hissy fit. I love what I do.
Pretend “news”. Gee, what will rile up the “Republican” vote next week, I wonder?
That is delightfully naughty. If I could hug you, I would.
Hopefully stacked with the toilet paper.
Costco is apparently run by leftists. The CEO spoke at the last Dem convention.
Costco is a big contributor to the Dem party, none to republicans. I dropped my membership years ago when that information came out.
There is some fiction in the Bible. E.g., Job, Tobit...
I wouldn’t say Job is fiction. It may be the oldest book in the Bible but not fiction.
I call BS. I’ve been a Costco member for years, and never seen a “fiction” sticker on anything. Yes, they sell Bibles. Isn’t that awesome that they offer Bibles to their members?

This is total BS.
Costco book tables are stacked with unlabeled boxes of books of all kinds, and the only sticker on any of them is the price (lowest in town).
