If We Could Start Our Own Country Called "Free Republic", What Would Our Constitution Say? (Vanity)
12/5/13 | One Vike

Let us pretend for a moment, or longer if the idea takes off, that we found some uncharted land or won our freedom from America, and began our own country.

Let us also pretend we had a convention of Freepers who were charged with deciding what our new constitution would say, and what rights our new Government would be limited to.

After seeing the destruction of the United States, and knowing how it came about, I wonder if we could write a new constitution that would stand the test of time?

I'll start by offering these suggestions for consideration as amendments.

  1. All households shall be required to own, and have knowledge of how to properly operate, fire arms for defense.

  2. All human life begins at the moment of inception and thus, shall receive the same protections as all humans who have been born.

  3. A family unit shall be defined as a human born as a man and a human born as a woman who live together in a union of marriage.

  4. All elected government officials shall obey all laws voted upon and agreed to by the people.

  5. The shall forever remain sovereign and free of influence from all political jurisdiction outside the boundaries of the nation.

  6. The rate of taxation shall never rise above the level where all basic essential services are fulfilled.

  7. Unless a citizen is physically unable to perform tasks needed to earn a living, they shall never receive assistance from others through taxation from another citizen via the government.

  8. The government shall never be involved at any level of education outside of training an individual for military service.

  9. Every able bodied male citizen shall serve a minimum of 4 years of military service.

  10. No elected official shall ever seek to change or weaken any original amendment to the constitution as agreed upon by those individuals charged with constructing the constitution.

  11. All new amendments must obey all the original amendments, but they themselves can be amended by new amendments.

Any other suggestions?

It will be interesting to learn what my fellow Freepers believe should be the rights and limitations for both the citizens and the government in our new country.

Ok, I agree with 3, yet don’t want it enshrined in law. Why should you go so far into someone’s personal life? The point is not to control other people, but to have a just and non intrusive Constitution.

ok, on the whole, this is good. Just be careful about avoiding imposing the leftist agenda on people, just to go and impose your agenda on people.

How about who votes and voter ID and illegal immigrants?

For every law passed, an old law must be repealed.

It would be almost exactly the same but with the founders CLEAR INTENTIONS specifically stated

For example, no need for the “militia” wording in the second ammendment, just “right to bear arms shal not be infringed”

And they clearly meant for people to come for one tern and then go back to their farms, so say so...

Firing squad for anyone who twists the constitution or fails to obey it once in office

Mandatory prison for government fruad (BY the government -or- against the government)

more clearly limit the the size and scope- clearly state thjat the ‘general welfare’ clause does NOT mean any goody two shoes program they want- specifically outlawing federal charity.

It needs a free speech item and another that makes it illegal to enforce political correctness.

I like the voter id idea.

As for marriage. Every society that has allowed people of the same sex to form unions has eventually disintegrated from the inside.

Mainly because the mindset of those who would do so, is to also bring the whole of society down to their level of amorality.

The US Constitution is fine - as written. We don’t have slavery, so every amendment from 13 onwards is unnecessary (I would keep the 22nd though)

I would add one Amendment to clarify what the Framers wrote - a total BAN on Central Banks or National Banks of the United States. This is absolutely critical.

The Federal Reserve is the foundation of present “Progressive” plans for government. It is impossible to impose social-engineering schemes from Social Security to Obamacare if the Government must compete with private citizens for money and must pay real interest rates on their debt. It can only exist through money-printing and inflation.

It`s legal under the Constitution coz Vermont was a country [republic] first as were Texas and California republics. West Virginia seceded from Virginia in 1861 and Supreme Court ok`d it. Maine was part of Massachusetts til they split. Eastern NY State was part of Vermont [a republic] til they got it right.

12. This constitution is not living or breathing. These amendments are not open to re-interpretations for different eras.

The Federal government shall not create, impose or collect any tax that is not approved by 75% of the states.

All Federal programs must be approved by 75% of the states at least every 10 years.

How about a Constitutional ban on the governments ability to borrow money?

Failure to maintain a balanced budget equals jail time for all congress critters.
