MUST SEE TV: CNN’s Jake Tapper Schooled By War Hero Marcus Lutrell (Video)(Watch this!!)
The Gateway Pundit ^ | 1-11-2014 | Jim Hoft

What an awful display of liberal media bias.
Jake Tapper lectured former Navy SEAL and war hero Marcus Lutrell about “senseless war” yesterday. Tapper was talking about the war in Afghanistan, a war that was started only after Al-Qaeda blew up the World Trade Center Towers in New York City kiling 3,000 Americans.

Marcus Latrell let him have it.

Transcript via Young Conservatives:

CNN’s Jake Tapper: “One of the emotions that I felt, while watching the film is first of all the hopelessness of the situation — how horrific it was and also just all that loss of life of these brave American men. And I was torn about the message of the film in the same way that I think I am about the war in Afghanistan itself. I don’t want any more senseless American death. And at the same time I know that there were bad people there and good people that need help.”

Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell: “I don’t know what part of the film you were watching, but hopelessness really never came into it. I mean, where did you see that? Because there was never a point where we just felt like we were hopelessly lost or anything like that. We never gave up. We never felt like we were losing until we were actually dead.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper: “Just the sense of all these wonderful people who died. It seemed senseless. I don’t mean to disrespect in any way, but it seemed senseless — all of these wonderful people who were killed for an op that went wrong.”

Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell: “We spend our whole lives training to defend this country and then we were sent over there by this country — so you’re telling me because we were over there doing what we were told by our country that it was senseless? And my guys — what? They died for nothing?”

CNN’s Jake Tapper: “No.”

Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell: “That’s what you said. So, let me just say, it went bad for us over there, but that was our job. That’s what we did. We didn’t complain about it.”

I wish Marcus had made the point that “journalists” like Jake Tapper are part of the reason those men died.

If I remember correctly from the book, the crucifying they would take from the media if they got wind of it (Including charges possibly being brought against them) was a factor in their decision to release them.

Jake Tapper was in the presence of a REAL man and warrior. He came off as a wussy, metrosexual, phony. Mark Wallberg (who played Marcus Lutrell) understands what the SEALs went through and their combat ethos. Tapper is totally clueless and is an embarrassment to himself and the profession of journalism..

Wow. Glad that those who fight actually got a few seconds of microphone time - the MSM is NOT used to that. Jake must have thought, because he lives in an echo chamber, That the ex-seal would be “grateful” for Jake’s cryin’ in his beer over them. That’s gotta be what he expected - gratitude! What a sweet day!

From the movie, it looked as though the only person who wanted to let the 3 go was the lone survivor, an idiotic decision. The old man had a comm device and was most likely Taliban and the 20 yo kid was obviously hate filled toward them and most likely Taliban too. These two should have been killed (or at the very least knocked unconscious and placed under a pine tree. Instead, they let the enemy loos and run back into tow and thus got eviscerated.

The movie should not be shocking. What would be shocking is if 200 armed Tali did not come back after they set them free. Horrible decision which cost 20+ lives. After watching that movie, I firmly believe that Luttrell is telling this story simply to assuage his guilt, which must weigh heavy.

The fight will never end - that’s Biblical. It will assume various forms. One is direct confrontation and the other is quiet assimilation.

The Jihadists will not have a change of heart and stay within their own enclaves. They seek the annihilation of Israel and the west.

The best defense against them is a good offense. Keeping them corralled in their own cesspool is what needs to be accomplished.

How that has been and should be done is a matter of debate.

If the corral is NOT built in the Middle East, then it has to be built at our own borders. That means more NSA involvement and loss of personal freedoms. That means adopting ways of protecting ourselves similar to that of Israel. And even that is not 100% certain.

There hasn’t been a major terrorist attack here since 9/11. Has that just been dumb luck or has our “taking the fight to the enemy” made the difference?

There have always been sacrifices for freedom and security. It doesn’t come without a price in today’s world. Who will make the sacrifices?

I, like you, am torn.

I don’t quite see the need to execute them. There were reasons laid out in the book as to why that was a bad idea (liberals asses in the U.S. notwithstanding). IMO, they should have called for exfil and taken their captives with them. Ask ‘em some questions and let them go at the FOB. Letting them go right there was the worst possibly decision they could have made with predictable consequences.

I get what you’re saying.

The links between the Taliban and al Qaeda are nebulous, true, but they do support each other’s goals, including financial support.

I do not agree, however, that they would leave us alone if we would cease meddling. Their fight is a religious and ideological one and their mission is the annihilation of Israel and the West. That’s not going to change if and when our soldiers shake the last speck of dust off their boots as they board vessels to come home.n

See my Post 47.

And I was torn about the message of the film in the same way that I think I am about the war in Afghanistan itself.

I am torn about that war too, but largely because of the filth that is coordinating the unnecessary deaths of our brave military. I am referring to the filth that issues rules of engagement that are designed to kill young American soldiers while preventing them from winning..

I don't know if Tapper is referring to that but is just too cowardly to say it right out loud on TV because he'd never work again in "news". I think he could have at least alluded to the fact that we are prevented from WINNING any conflicts our young people are sent into...

“He can live secure in the knowledge that his eventual senseless death won’t be for his country”

Anymore than his senseless life is.

I haven’t seen the movie and could probably only watch it on DVD as I had to put the book down and walk away from it several times.

I honestly don’t remember who wanted to do what and my copy of the book has long since been passed on. I do remember quite a bit of discussion between the men as to what to do. (I was also thinking in the book one was actually a young child, 10-12 years old or so, which heavily influenced the decision.)

We all know the media would have portrayed them as “innocent sheep herders” just trying to eke out a living and their grieving families would become media darlings paraded across our TV screens as often as possible.

I just don’t think the fear of the media labeling you as an some kind of bloodthirsty killer (possibly leading to criminal charges being brought against you) should ever have to be a factor in the decision of men fighting for this country and their own lives.

Of course, if the media was actually on America’s side it wouldn’t even be an issue.

" I firmly believe that Luttrell is telling this story simply to assuage his guilt, which must weigh heavy. "

Any guilt should lie with the team leader - I didn't understand his putting a decision like that to a vote.

Just came from seeing the movie. What a film, this was a story that needed to be told. I came out thinking - these are real men. Second thought - too bad they have such a panty waist for a commander in chief. The patriots who fought the British for our independence were the same men plus in every war they were willing to die doing their jobs. God bless the military!

The militarily now has a Reality Show about an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) doing their work clearing mines in Afghanistan. I’ve seen an episode or two where the crazy Obama ROEs are clearly being exercised from their buttoned up MRAP.

It goes something like this.

Taliban bunny has a weapon firing at us! Oops, no he does not. Now he does ; now he doesn’t ... he had a weapon so now I can’t fire! He’s got it again - now I can return fire - he ditched it again ceasing fire. And on and on ....

Seeing Marcus completely own the arrogant Jake Tapper was....priceless. Even Wahlberg sat back and watched in amazement.

I really wish someone running for elected office would find their balls and use this kind of insanity in their campaigns.

On BIG screens. With vets on site to vouch for it.

And figure out some way to sue the hell out of/arrest members of the govt for intentionally creating PTSD in our troops and destroying recruiting with this liberal BS.
