During a post-game sideline interview with Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman went off on San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree while giving himself some high praise:

Regarding your link, if you scroll down a bit through the comments section you will see another instagram montage. It shows Kapernick giving back and Wilson showing off his private helicopter and jewelry.

I don’t have a dog in this fight; however, using that to prove your theory is week.

Athletes that graduate from college usually were pushed thru with minimum effort. Not always but what professor is going to fail the star player.

Hines ward would have knocked this little guy into the next century with one good block. He couldn't cover Hines on his best day and would be eliminated from the game with one good run block. Just another big mouth and he better put up or shut up against manning.

btw: Omaha, Omaha and he even stuck in a Neil Young near the end

Last night I saw some comments where a few seattle fans were using this photo claiming Crabtree had hit that thug.... of course they forgot to mention him putting his hands up to his own neck showing the "choking" sign and in his face mouthing before Crabtree did this.

The best comment though, was, "this guy just single handedly caused millions of viewers to become Denver fans in the Super bowl"

"It’s sad to watch,, one more sport in the gutter.. and they deflated the HumpDome last week too ... not to worry, Nascar is almost ready to roll another gutter ball so don’t sell the ranch yet"

It's not as if NASCAR hasn't had its own brawls in recent years, up to and including deliberate collisions on the track, which in my view is a bit more irresponsible than football trash-talk.

As for Richard Sherman, his outburst was unfortunate and undoubtedly lost the Seahawks some of the nation's casual fans. But, as others have pointed out, the level of on-field trash-talking in the NFL would shock a lot of people, so Sherman's comments were not as outrageous as they might have seemed. Boasting is ubiquitous, but fans are usually shielded from the angrier manifestations of it. No doubt Crabtreee had been saying some things that Sherman found very insulting.

Football writers almost universally say that Richard Sherman is a likeable guy despite his bombast, and he and Russell Wilson are the twin faces of this Seahawk team. Wilson is the modest Boy Scout, Sherman is the swagger guy. As my girlfriend put it (in a bit more graphic manner than I am putting it here), Sherman is the guy you'd like to have a fling with, Wilson is the guy you'd like to marry.

I found this in Sherman's wiki bio:

Sherman has been involved in several controversies during his short NFL career. One of these controversies is his Optimus Prime nickname, referring to Calvin Johnson, who is nicknamed Megatron.[17] Sherman repeatedly taunted Tom Brady and the Patriots during an October 2012 game. After the game, Sherman posted to his Twitter account a photo of himself yelling at Brady with "U mad bro?" superimposed on it. He later removed the post.[7] Sherman also stirred controversy with his response to not being selected to the 2013 Pro Bowl.[13] In March 2013, Sherman went on to ESPN First Take, where he argued with Skip Bayless. Sherman told Bayless "I'm intelligent enough and capable enough to understand that you are an ignorant, pompous, egotistical cretin. I am going to crush you on here because I am tired of hearing about it." He also claimed that he was "better at life" than the First Take analyst.[18] Sherman was also involved in a Twitter feud with fellow NFL cornerback, Darrelle Revis,[19] to the point that Joe Haden also involved himself into the conversation, claiming that he was the No. 2 cornerback in the league, behind Revis and ahead of Sherman.[20] Sherman has also been involved in controversies with Trent Williams[21] and Roddy White.[22]

Sherman's outburst gave a lot of people who would have been neutral a reason to support Denver. The TV executives probably loved it, because it gives the commentators another story line - loudmouth Richard Sherman versus nice guy Peyton Manning. The "put-up-or-shut-up" theme has already been voiced on this thread, and it will be part of the Super Bowl hype.

But Russell Wilson is a nice guy, too, and one player's outburst does not define a team.

Many people still love the Saints despite their coaches' unconscionable bounty scheme, which apparently is not entirely a thing of the past considering the way they targeted Percy Harvin last week.

The problem with society: too many people (even here) give the guy a pass for acting like a jerk ("It's just a game!!") because he made a big play to help win the game.

Sorry, nothing excuses thugishness. So he graduated from Stanford. We're all aware of idiots with PHD's. What does that have to do with civility and attitude?

I read his comments from today. Looks like he's blaming the comments against him on racism. How Obama of him!

The last 8 times the top rated defense in the NFL has played in the Super Bowl they have won the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning will have to throw the ball 50 times for Denver to win because Seattle’s defense will shut down their running game. Conversely, Denver does not have the defense to stop Marshawn Lynch. Manning will throw on almost every down, and the NFL top-rated pass defense will eventually get to him.

The dislike between Sherman and Crabtree goes back a couple of years. They have never liked each other.

Muhammad Ali’s rants make Richard Sherman look like Mother Teresa. When Richard Sherman starts calling other black athletes gorillas and uncle toms and any other belittling thing he could think of to try to get under their skin, I’ll start saying he has went off the deep end. Joe Frazier hated Ali to the day he died for calling him an ape and gorilla before their fights.

Sherman has his hand out to shake Crabtree’s hand. I think there is some overreaction against Sherman.

Then you missed the unsportsmanlike taunt, for which he was penalized.

Why give Sherman a pass for his "in-the-moment-actions" and not Crabtree?
