Bill Nye: Bible doesn’t tell Earth’s true history
Associated Press ^ | Feb 5, 2014 4:38 AM EST | Dylan Lovan

“Science Guy” Bill Nye tapped on the podium, threw up his hands and said “billions and billions” in a Kentucky museum that has become widely known for teaching that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

Nye was debating Creation Museum founder Ken Ham and promoting science in the snappy way that made him a pop culture staple as host of “Bill Nye The Science Guy” in the 1990s.

The event was meant to explore the age old question, “How did we get here?” from the perspectives of faith and science. …

When Cain was punished to wander after he murdered Abel, he said that he was not being merely exiled to wander, but condemned to death in his isolation. So God made a mark to make sure others would not attack him.

Question is: who are these others?

Formation of non living things involve phases of fabrication, time is meaningless. It is one phase to the other.

When outside intervention takes place to manufacture Earth or beings, then we have the meaning of relative time coming to existence. Why God chose to follow the phases of the sun and Earth as a time reference, using it as a giant watch, when neither existed yet, is part of the whole integration management genius of creation.

The problem isn’t that Nye said I don’t know to some things he cannot know, but that he speaks authoritatively about other things that he also cannot possibly know.

“The earth is NOT 6,000 years old. Period.”

A careful reading of Genesis 1 would reveal:

1. God created the Earth.

2. The six-day creation period begins with Earth already
present. The Earth probably is billions of years old.

UFO cults are based in progressism.

Progressism is the bigger cousin of Nazi pure perfect race concepts as it sheds human race for an interest into higher races of higher technological development.

It is premised in the same concept of demoralization of genius. Indeed, no matter how easy or how smartly one gets it, one will eventually face a challenge.

Character lays in ability to overcome this challenge and failures. Arguments for dependency on inherent racial perfection or advanced alien genius completly sets up any one for giving up on failure.

Evolution presuposes that the old age of the universe means more advanced races exist, when we could ourselves manipulate genes to make advanced beings without waiting for Evolution to do its “holy deed”.

Thus an advanced race is solely based on the ability of a race to advance itself through sheer self determination, in much the same way God is described of making man in the Bible!

When one looks at a painting like the Mona Lisa there is no doubt one knows a great artist painted it.

I agree. And although I cannot duplicate the Mona Lisa I can certainly investigate and learn much about the style and techniques using which it came to be.

In much the same way, I can learn about the mechanisms and processes by which the universe came to be.

So far, evolutionists have shown a great deal more curiosity and have presented far more plausible detail in that regard than have creationists.

I suspect that Ken Ham, Gish, Hovind and others of their ilk have made atheists of more people than Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennett and the like could ever dream of.

Thank God he gave us the choice. Spend our life trying to prove we were created by him, or spend your life trying to prove we weren’t. As for me, and my house........

There are a large percentage of Creationists who do NOT buy into the “young earth” narrative. (6,000 yrs. old)

The Bible makes it clear that to God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.

People pretending to be able to age Creation by adding the “7 days” of Creation, to the lifespans in Begats, are kidding themselves.

And that’s part of the gig. That’s why the other con artist (the “science guy” who’s not a scientist) plays along. This is not about science, it’s about dragging people into easily manipulable artificial classifications.

“Never understood why some people consider ‘I don’t know’ such an inadequate answer.”

I think it’s the perfect answer!

I’ve been kicking up dust on this rock for 64 years, I’ve seen what everybody else has seen and have come to a conclusion. Theres not one person walks this rock that knows any more about God than I do, how could they? And I know no more about God than anybody else! I don’t know is a perfectly acceptable answer.

Creationists are not as foolish as sanctimonious Darwinists who believe in evolution like it was fact. If you cannot show a transitory fossil then you are believing it by faith or fraud.

Some believe in the Bible and fools believe in Darwin.

Did you get that from reading God’s Word?

You’re right though. They’ve been saying the earth is 6,000 years old for 20 years now. It’s probably more like 6,014 years old.

Nye’s concluding remarks of what he believes in was a disaster. He believes in science and trying to find out how he fits into the universe and believes he is part of that universe thanks to evolution.

He is willing to explore anything except the possibility of God.

Not 6000 years. By insisting on something stupid like “6000 years” creationists lose their credibility.

Evolution does NOT explain how man got here, with his superior intelligence. It does NOT explain how life began.

The “official count” is 5774. And yes, there’s a big party planned for Y6K.

It has nothing to do with this ‘lucha libre’-like “rudos vs. tecnicos” us-vs-them debacle, though.

Maybe. It’s more likely that you’re not very good at telling how old stuff is.
