Pickles The Rescue Cat aka ‘Catasaurus Rex’ Finds A Home
Love Meow ^

Posted on 02/16/2014 2:25:42 PM PST by Perdogg

Pickles the cat was once abandoned and had a hard time finding a home because of his size until he met a couple who have a heart and home big enough to take him in.

He was nicknamed Catasaurus Rex when he was put up for adoption. Weighing in 21 lbs for about 3 feet long, Pickles is larger than some dogs. Because of his enormous appetite, he was forced out of his home, looking for food scraps. But now Pickles has finally found a home and humans that love him to bits despite his size and the way he is.

Pickles is also overweight: he needs to be put on a “catkins”diet. He’d very quickly lose all of that weight if the carbs were cut out. Cats are obligate carnivores and are not designed to eat grain or any carbs at all for that matter.

Whole ground chicken thighs, along with a few chicken livers, chicken hearts, a few supplements, fish oil, and psyllium husk powder provide nearly a perfect cat diet.

That weight is not at all unusual for Persians, Maine Coons-the article says the cat may be part Maine Coon- Norwegian forest cats, Siberians etc, they are just large cats-my Maine coon weighs 22 pounds and is bigger than my neighbor’s yorkies-not fat.

“a few chicken livers, chicken hearts”

There is a good reason my 3 are indoor cats-they would decide to go after the whole chicken, and the people next door have little bantam chickens...

He’s overall the size of our Maine Coon and at 22 lb is only 1 lb more than our cat. Our cat is definitely not fat and neither is he. He looks pretty lean for his size.

**Pickles' amazing personality isn't the only amazing thing about him... he's HUGE! He currently weighs about 20lbs. He is also FIV+. Cats with FIV can live a normal lifespan.**

Either that guy’s hands are bigger than his face, or that photo was taken with a wide-angle lens and with his arms outstretched, in which case the size of the cat isn’t accurately represented in that nor in the other photo below. (Where you can’t even see the guy’s hands.)

Exactly right. The catkins diet also takes care of the hairball issue and feline tooth decay. I personally believe it's the answer to feline diabetes, which is on the rise.

Do Norwegian forest cats actually live in the woods and are there any cats left in the world who live in the wild the way their ancestors did?
