But who gets to blow out the candles?

What’s believed to be a lightly-camouflaged 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang has been spotted out on a test drive just a few weeks before its expected debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.

The GT-spec ‘Stang features several retro styling cues to mark the occasion, including a unique grille with a horizontal chrome bar and corral around the Mustang logo, what appear to be rear quarter window louvers hidden under a black panel, and forked-spoke wheels reminiscent of the ones seen on

They have been sitting in his back yard (way out in the country) for at least 10 years.

And rusting out, right?

we had a ‘74 Javelin AMX.

My brother-in-law had one at that time and I swear, his car was the reason lemon laws were passed........LOL!

He may actually be doing something to protect them but I have no idea what as it seems like they haven’t rusted as badly as they should.

I will say they were far from perfect to start with.

I recall a few electrical issues behind that massive, swoopy cockpit style dashboard that were nearly impossible to get at without removing the whole thing but that’s all, it was a good car otherwise. Sounded nice, looked great, fast but a little tail-happy, you had to be careful even pulling out of a carwash.

That looks too much like a cut-down Aston Martin than a Mustang. That, and of all things, they brought back the Mustang II via the un-American Eco-Boost option.

If I want a European car, I don’t go to Ford. That is the case even if they have completely removed their American sized/priced models.

I’d like a ‘67 instead.

The Fusion doesn’t have the option that it deserves - the Mustang’s base v6.

Then again, Ford cant help putting in Eco-Boost and lopping off 2 cylinders to please environmentalists.

They might want to rethink that slogan.

They should have just brought back the full-size late ‘60s body (Boss, fastback, etc.) and let it go at that.

They don’t play baseball; not good baseball anyway.

Had my ‘71 Mustang stolen in 1981 in Detroit. Husband saw it going down the road. I cried for two weeks.

Pretty sure that is a “cat” reference and all, being a Jag.

It’s a line from Steve Goodman’s song “A Dying Cubs Fan’s Last Request”. Fun stuff.

LOL; I believe it. Great Americana has grown up around the futility of being a Cubs fan.

There’s a certain nobility about being the last boy scout troop in Stalingrad. I started rooting for the Cleveland Browns because I lived near Pittsburgh in the 70’s and could have used “Terrible Towel” PTSD as a legal defense.

The first Mustangs had a 260 ci V8 option, before the 289.

The 64 1/2 was featured in a James Bond movie and launched the mustang to the US market.

Whatever some here say, our ‘09 GT/CS was a very cool car. It has now become an F-150 since we moved to the high Rockies and the 15 mile dirt road would have ruined that fine ride.
