The Stars and Stripes are at the center of controversy. At least at Larry Murphrees home.
I want it to go away. Its such a minor little thing and they keep coming after me, he explained.
They is Murphrees homeowners association. Hes lived in the Sweetwater community for years, and been at odds with the HOA for more than two. All over a flag. The veteran decided to put one in his flower pot, and has been fined as a result.
They just sent me a letter that says I owe them around $8,000 and they put a foreclosure lien on my house, he continued.

These HOA stooges are just future bureaucrats in training. I’d bet a fair amount of money that every one of the little fascists, in every HOA, are democrats.

Perhaps the HOA Board of Directors and their Lawyers need to be sued on a “personal” basis for continual harassment over an issue that Federal Law already has covered.
To: Olog-hai
"Theres an actual Florida statute that says he can display this flag, Carson said. Federal law from 2005 also backs that up. We reached out to the law office that reprsents the HOA and got attorney Michelle Haines. She tells me if payment is not made within 30 days, the law office can move forward with foreclosure on Murphree's home.
Last year, after a similar fight, he filed a lawsuit and settled out of court, but the HOA flag display rules have been rewritten since then. Murphree said he won't stop until he can freely fly his flag.
Just another bunch of busy-bodies wishing to exert their perceived power over others, no matter what the law says.

actually the HOA can be liable directly for pushing this anti-us flag effort in the face of florida law.

So THIS is what the HOA was so amped up about -- to the tune of $8,000??? WTH -- is ISIS running it???
When I was a Realtor, I warned clients about HOAs. Glad I did.

Force the HOA to arrest him...
The public pressure alone would cause the HOA to collapse...
That is if we actually had a decent media...

One wonders why veterans from every VFW and American Legion post from all over the state aren’t showing up outside the homes of the folks on “the Homeowners Association” to give them a little talking-to.

If at all possible to avoid it... never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER buy a home in which an HOA has such administrative powers.
They are nothing but trouble.

Sounds to me like the veteran has cause for a nice juicy lawsuit.
