Red Sox ball girl has priceless reaction after fielding Eric Hosmer's fair ball

It was the best and the worst of life as a major league ball girl all wrapped up in one play.

On one hand, the ball girl stationed along the right field line at Fenway Park on Friday night got to be part of the action, impressively fielding Kansas City Royals slugger Eric Hosmer's well hit grounder with millions of people watching. On the other hand, she somehow missed the fact that the ball crossed over first base in fair territory, meaning she had just interfered with a live play.

Too bad Billy Buckner could not have handled that ball as well as this young lady handled this one.

Armando Galarraga would have been just another forgotten pitcher who threw a perfect game had it not been for the bad call by the 1st base umpire.........

For bad or for worse, Buckner will never be forgotten........LOL!

The Royals had a ball boy do the same thing a couple of weeks ago. He was absolutely crushed but the Royals manager went over to him between innings, put his arm around his shoulder, and made sure he was all right. Mistakes happen.

Nah. He was traded for my favorite player, Rick Monday. He was a very good player, but .300 hitting first basemen are too common to be HoF material. He was a great player who spent a lot of his career on a bad team (Cubs), but not HoF material.

A male ball attendant did that a few years back, and he was relieved after the end of the half inning and never appeared again. Any (Red) Sox fan is familiar with that young lady’s impressive fielding skills on foul balls. Especially after a player makes an error and the following batter hits a foul ball her way.

My comment was intended to be a good natured joke; pining for what could have been.

I saw Billy Buck too many times at Chavez Ravine, during his Dodger years, to know him as anything but a guy that gave 100% all the time.

I never felt he had to be forgiven, it was one of those regrettable moments, his just came at a very inopportune time.

I have not yet forgiven Nester Chylak for his bad call on Garvey at home plate in game 1 of the ‘77 series against the Yankees. Garvey was safe.

I also have not forgiven Frank Pulli for not properly calling Reggie Jackson on his sticking his hip out, interfering with a sure double play in the ‘78 series.
