The nation’s food stamp program, formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provided a record $74.6 billion in benefits to needy Americans in Fiscal Year 2012—paying out $2 billion too much, according to the annual quality control report for FY 2012, the most recent year for which data is available.

And only in Washington could that $2 billion in overpayments be viewed as a good thing. […]

The data show the payment error rate has declined over time, from 5.64% in FY 2007; 5.01% in FY 2008; 4.36% in FY 2009; 3.81% in FY 2010; 3.80% in FY 2011; and the record low 3.42% in the latest FY 2012 report.

But over a five-year period, covering most of the Obama presidency, the size of the SNAP program—both in dollars and the amount of overpayments—has greatly increased. …

This is the only thing preventing social unrest I think. The day the food stamps stop coming in the mail is the day the violence starts.

The overpayments are intentional to make it hurt all the more when Uncle Sam decides to cut them off.

Obama wants to throw money around. After he and his cronies are taken care of, his racial favorites get taken care of, and after that, he just doesn’t care as long as its spread widely. Waste is not a factor for him.

Yep. When the EBT runs out, there is no doubt that the zombies will be coming out.

And oh how the piggies squeal when their stamps are reduced to repay what they were overpaid.

Program (SNAP), provided a record $74.6 billion in benefits to deadbeat moochers in Fiscal Year 2012—paying out $74.6 billion too much.

There, corrected it.

No problem! It went to Obama's base, so that makes it ok. Just move along.

Overpayment errors may be declining but fraud is skyrocketing.

It irks me when an overfed person is in front of me in the checkout line with shopping carts full of steaks, lobster tails and ice cream and pays with an EBT card. most who get this benefit are NOT needy....... But too lazy to get a job...

Socialism Is Legal Plunder

How to Identify Legal Plunder

But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.

Then abolish this law without delay, for it is not only an evil itself, but also it is a fertile source for further evils because it invites reprisals. If such a law — which may be an isolated case — is not abolished immediately, it will spread, multiply, and develop into a system.

In fact, this has already occurred. The present-day delusion is an attempt to enrich everyone at the expense of everyone else; to make plunder universal under the pretense of organizing it.

/ The Law; Bastiat (1801-1850)

BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM

Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. - Bastiat

FWIW “food stamps” these days are actually a debit card where the amount that can be spent gets loaded electronically every month.
