Destroy Hamas? Something worse would follow: Pentagon intel chief

(Reuters) - A top Pentagon intelligence official warned on Saturday that the destruction of Hamas would only lead to something more dangerous taking its place, as he offered a grim portrait of a period of enduring regional conflict.

The remarks by Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, the outgoing head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, came as Israeli ministers signaled that a comprehensive deal to end the 20-day-old conflict in the Gaza Strip appeared remote.

At least 1,050 Gazans - mostly civilians - have been killed, and 42 Israeli soldiers and three civilians in Israel have died.

Flynn disparaged Hamas for exhausting finite resources and know-how to build tunnels that have helped them inflict record casualties on Israelis. Still, he suggested that destroying Hamas was not the answer.

"If Hamas were destroyed and gone, we would probably end up with something much worse. The region would end up with something much worse," Flynn said at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado.

"A worse threat that would come into the sort of ecosystem there … something like ISIS," he added, referring to the Islamic State, which last month declared an "Islamic caliphate" in territory it controls in Iraq and Syria.

Well, the communists killed more people than the Nazis, but they had more time.

Sounds to me like one of Obama’s princes is issuing a veiled threat.

Destroy that too. When will the moronic elitists in the west accept the fact that it’s either us or them.

Confined in the crowded, sandy coast enclave of 1.8 million, where poverty and unemployment hover around 40 percent, weary Gazans say they hope the battle will break the blockade that Israel and Egypt impose on them.

Uhm, the people are poor and unemployed because of terrorism. The blockades exist because of terrorism. Renounce terror and money flows via free markets. I mean these dunces spent all their funds on tunnels and rockets, not infrastructure and education. Duh.

Asking them to renounce terrorism ? But as Mohammadans, that’s their entire reason for being. They’d have to give up their political death cult.

Time to finish this once and for all.

It would be the best for both sides.

Interesting logic.

Let’s see if I understand this.

We should never fight to destroy an enemy because the next enemy might be worse.

Just one problem. If you don’t fight them, they then become the next worse thing anyway, emboldened by the lack of resistance.

It’s kind of like how we didn’t finish off Al Quaeda in Iraq, so they then became ISIS once they knew we were out of the fight. The thing we didn’t kill became the worse thing that would have followed it anyway, only sooner.

(Nuclear weapons are so much simpler.)

The let's just see what happens after Hamas is obliterated. Perhaps something worse may replace them, perhaps not.

To stand by and allow themselves to be continually attacked by Hamas with rockets is absurd. To suggest they refrain from annihilating Hamas lest something worse take its place is advice that smacks of pure cowardice, and absolutely expected from any agency that has been corrupted by the current administration.

It may not necessarily be straightforward cowardice that is being projected from the Pentagon with such a proclamation, but it's completely expected from the marxist ideology that has been imposed upon the Pentagon by the current administration.

“A worse threat that would come into the sort of ecosystem there … something like ISIS,”

In which case Israel could exert it true might and not worry about the public backlash which is aided and abetted by the media!

“Newsflash: ISIS is headed there. You think they will co-exist peacefully with Israel?”

I don’t think they’ll even co-exist with Hamas. or with the PLO.

You are correct, and anyone who truly wants peace should help to totally eliminate the problem.

Stupid idiot. it is not the point. Hamas never made a peace deal with Israel, just like the Brotherhood was against Saddat.

So I guess the Chicago police department should stop going after the Gangster Disciples because something worse would take it’s place.

So, curing the Flu might result in the super Flu?

I know it doesn't equate, but if some federal Judge can use pizza to justify an insane ruling, I can make irrelevant analogies too....

Obama admin has purged our military of any leaders who had problems with the direction Obama was taking the US.

That is why all we hear now is this pathetic pap.
