Former Putin advisor: Russia shot down MH17
Obozrevatel ^ | July 24, 2014 | Andrei Illarionov

“Why was the Boeing from Amsterdam shot down” by Andrei Illarionov
Note about the author: Illarionov is a former economic policy advisor to Vladimir Putin but presently is one of his harshest critics. He is a senior fellow in the Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity think tank at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC.

(Excerpted. Translated from Russian by I.M.)

Why MH17?
On the day of July 17, there were several dozen passenger planes that flew over the area where SAM "Buk-M1" was located. This included a Lufthansa flight Munich-Dehli twenty minutes earlier, and Singapore Airlines flight Copenhagen-Singapore a minute later. No one except MH17 was fired upon. Why was MH17 chosen? Firstly, execution of the plan required that Russian, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), U.S., German, French, and planes flying from eastern and southern directions be excluded. The victim was supposed to be a plane taking off from either Warsaw ("capital of the Frontline States" in the ongoing Russian Fourth World War) or Amsterdam ("sin capital" of decayed, corrupt West, which is opposite to the true values protecting, rising from its knees, deeply spiritual Putin's Russia). However, a catastrophe with a plane from Warsaw would inevitably give a new momentum to the accusations of the Kremlin leadership in systematic attacks against the Poles. (see 2010 Smolensk crash) But the main thing, it could not achieve the effect for which the authors of this diabolical plan were aiming. Therefore, there was only one flight, flying July 17, 2014 from Amsterdam - MH17. Since its usual route ran roughly south, the Russian authorities had to close 12 air corridors for pilots to leave the only possible route L980, which runs in the area of Torez and Snizhne. There, waiting for them was a skilled, well-trained, sober, following exclusively without exceptions the direct orders of their military superiors, Russian crew of the SAM "Buk-M1."

What is the idea behind operation, "Amsterdam Flight"?
Project "New Russia”, so ceremoniously declared on April 17 (by Putin) and aimed at preventing Ukraine's integration into Western economic, political and military alliances, is on the verge of defeat. Possible consequences of this defeat for its authors, initiators and organizers have been discussed repeatedly. The only way to save the "New Russia” project from the full and final defeat is for the Ukrainian army to stop fighting in eastern Ukraine.

By July 17, they have applied:
- “Separatist” military resistance, which was relatively effective only at the beginning, but recently, it is being overpowered by the forces of the regular Ukrainian army which are becoming stonger and stronger;
- Diplomatic pressure exerted by Merkel, Hollande and so on. This was, as is well known, insufficient.

What was needed was a new, much more powerful measure, capable (by author's intent) to result in "shock and awe" of the sleeping until now European public. Terrified by the deaths of hundreds of their fellow citizens, including children, it would demand from their governments to apply all kinds of pressure on the leaders of "Jew Banderites and UkroFascists" and at any cost stop the Ukrainian army from fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Truce at any cost would allow the Kremlin to continue to fuel the fire in Donbas by supplying militants and weapons, and at the same time would institutionalize and legalize a large Ukrainian "Transnistria". Once a truce had been reached, tried and true mechanisms (as in Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia) would be applied to renew it for 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 years, during which Donetsk and Luhansk ulcers would keep Ukraine from integration into Western alliances.

Following the success of operation “Amsterdam flight", operation "The Peacemaker" was launched.

Operation "The Peacemaker"
After receiving information about the success of the terrorist attack, the senior author of operation “The Peacekeeper" contacted the U.S. President Barack Obama, and informed him of the tragedy, "stressing the need for the immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities by both parties in the south-east of Ukraine, which has led to numerous victims and forced hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to seek refuge in Russia. Highlighted was the unacceptability of Ukrainian army shelling Russian territory as a result of which there are casualties among Russian citizens. President of Russia informed Obama about the measures taken by the Russian side to resume group consultations with representatives of the south-east of Ukraine. Also expressed was the hope that the U.S. side will also contribute to the start of the peace negotiation process in Ukraine."

In the following days, public events of the plan’s author, all without exceptions, (telephone conversations with leaders of other countries, public announcements, minutes of silence) were aimed at achieving a cessation of hostilities with the Ukrainian side. In Europe and the U.S., a simultaneous campaign of demands, petitions and protests demanding their governments to "immediately stop the slaughter in Ukraine" was launced. It had partly succeeded - Poroshenko has already announced a cessation of hostilities within 40 km from the crash site MN17.

The role of "separatists" in operation “Amsterdam Flight."

Kremlin framed them, using them as the main suspect.
- MN17 was not shot down by "chernuhinski Cossacks" (which were 40 km from the place, a physical impossibility).
- "Bezler Report" was transmitted in such a way so as to be intercepted by the SBU and presented to the world, thereby directing the hunt primarily at "separatists."
- Bezler himself was apparently shocked to learn of the destruction of the passenger liner (which confirms that he did not participate in the operation, but only reported, and is in contrast to the icy calm of his Moscow contact)
- "Separatists" behavior with dead bodies and the plane wreckage reinforced the impression created (despite the total management of them from Moscow).
- The posting on social networks from Girkin drew attention to the “separatists” as the perpetrators of the terrorist attack.
- Kremlin launched a propaganda campaign "It's not Putin".
- Added to the campaign were intense propaganda forces. Even some notable representatives of the intellectual opposition swallowed it, reproducing convenient for the Kremlin version of guilty "separatists" ("monkey with a grenade"). However, there’s no basis for this version, because the "separatists" never had the means nor a chance to implement such act of terrorism.

"It's not the Georgians. And it’s not the separatists. It’s a third force" -
tells me, with eyes pointing to the map of Russia the OSCE observer officer about the authors of terrorist acts on the territory of South Ossetia in the summer of 2008, which eventually lead to the hot phase of the Russian-Georgian war in August of the same year.

if they intended to blame ia disaster on the separatists they should have come up with a plan that involved equipment that the separarists had and they didn’t, not the other way around.

the plan described above should end with Putin saying “now we wait for nightfall then we leap out of the rabbit!”

The bigger question is: who’s going to do anything about it?

Hmmmmm --

Now why would Putin close those corridors unless he knew that the rebels had something to reach those planes and wanted to make it easy for the BUK crews to target the right one flying west to east.

Why that plane at that time when there is not even any Ukrainian military jets in the sky to confuse it with.

Should he answer answer every stupid question where “evidence” is a fake photo?

I don’t think they would. They might try this stuff in England, but this guy is in US and I don’t think American intelligence services would look kindly at that.

Odd but I don’t see where in their questions the Russians claim there were bullet holes. Maybe you can point it out to me.

The holes look like they could have very well been caused from shrapnel. Was the anti-aircraft missile involved one that explodes on proximity to the target?

A proximity fuse aboard the missile determines when it will detonate, creating an expanding fragmentation pattern of missile components and warhead to intercept and destroy the target.

As far as I can tell, some German “expert” claimed that the cockpit of MH17 showed bullet holes on an outward trajectory. The Russians took to the story like dogs to vomit.

Explodes on proximity. Some holes in the fuselage might look like bullet holes (round), others not.

Hey McGruff, can you show us the 12 air corridors that the Russians shut down and explain why they would shut those corridors down???

All they had to do was take away those BUK launchers that their children were playing with in Ukraine.

Or tell them not to shoot at planes that are flying TOO HIGH to identify.

Lets quit all the BS and admit that Russia shot the MH17 down. Period. Russian missile vehicle and Russian manned.

But Obama: 'Russia Doesn't Make Anything'

from question 3:

“As far as we know, the Ukrainian military had three or four air defense battalions equipped with Buk-M1 SAM systems deployed in the vicinity of Donetsk on the day of the crash.

They even have satellite photos. How come we don't have any satellite photos?
