I've agonized, like many here, these past couple days. I honestly believed there was a concerted effort to embarrass and knock Trump off, a conspiracy if you will, but Ive come full circle and now feel differently, very differently.
I dont think there was any conspiracy. I think the Fox trio, worked hard to challenge the candidates, and independently from Rupert Murdock or Ailes or anyone else.
Right out of the gate it was great TV. After the opening salvo, you didnt want to turn your tv off.
And what happened? Each candidate was hit with a zinger. Trump was hit the most, and I doubt that anyone else running for office could have answered like he did.
He swatted their best shots as well as Newt would.
And what else happened? Fox tried to take the rest of the group out with tough questions. And they all rose to the occasion, except maybe Bush, who seemed to play it safe...perhaps Walker too.
I think all in all Fox showed why the interviews of Obama are a big joke. Obama or Hillary could never stand up to the barrage that our side took last week.
And I am proud of everyone, including Chris, Kelly and Brett... and all of our candidates.
I pray that eventually we will all coalesce and unite. I think Trump can and will do that. It makes no sense to run third party... makes no sense. He's way ahead now, and he's taking shots left and right.
What is left now, is for someone to sit down with him, and ask him some serious policy questions about our country, and how he sees us winning. He can tell us. It's right there in his book, Making America No. One Again.
I'm waiting for some one like Kelly to have read the book and ask him questions on what he says in the book.
The bottom line, if you can't handle Chris, Kelly and Brett, how in the heck are you going to handle Putin, the Chinese, the Iranians etc?
I hope Trump rises to the occasion and doesnt op out on any future debates. I hope he remain himself.
I think he will. He fired his manager, who apparently was a milktoast.
If Kelly is smart she'll find some way to make it right with Trump. She'll invite him back on her show.
He'll refuse of course, then eventually he'll accept, and it will be the biggest show of her career, and the two will be best of friends.
You know why? because she is a lot like Trump.
She's a class act. She could taken Erickson's invite, who btw is a classless act, a joke and a loser.
In short, I am excited. The top four, Trump, Cruz, Carson and Carli and all outsiders. What does that tell you folks!!!!?
Said it before - say it again - you can not correct stupid.
Kiley was debating Trump. “Moderators” have no business debating the candidates.
We don’t need debate “moderators” who get more air time than the candidates!
We don’t need “moderators” at all.
This is the 21st century. Collect a bunch of questions from journalists and citizens and have a computer randomly select them and display them on a jumbotron for all the candidates to answer.
Get partisan “moderators” out of the debates. Banish them. Send them back to their shout-shows where they belong and leave them there.
“Democrats have opened our borders to all manner of horrific Third World violence, crime, and disease. The GOP has supported and endorsed this vile activity every single step of the way. Trump has tapped into the fury of the American people over the unrelenting anti-American NWO push of our paid employees in government. Trump could win this on this one issue alone. Americans are tired of being betrayed by their government on both sides of the aisle.”
I don’t think she’s evil but I think she’s suffering from over-inflated ego. Also, these moderators were all news reporters, not debate moderators. They were going for the soundbite, the headline, not the substance.
It may be that a real debate would bore us to tears but that doesn’t justify turning it into a tabloid forum.
What you just said, but to the tenth power!
Go ask your Mom to make you a sandwich.
Leave the heavy thinking for the older folks!
Bless your heart.
Nice post. Thank you. :)
She’s no class act in my mind, and she did not treat all candidates fairly by any stretch of the imagination. She and the others on Fox have been bashing Trump for weeks, so I expected this... I just didn’t expect them to be so blatant about their bias.
This post is not going to work out well for you.
“The bottom line, if you can’t handle Chris, Kelly and Brett, how in the heck are you going to handle Putin, the Chinese, the Iranians etc?”
I don’t think silly questions meant as gotchas, asked in smirky, smarmy manner reflect anything related to dealing with Iran or China etc...
A line of yours, in this well written and appreciated post, reflect the problem with the debate: you called it “good TV”.
That’s the problem.
ok where did you get your crack and how come you are not sharing.
megyn kelly is a democrat . she outed herself
all news media reporters are democrats = socialists = communists
The media is the enemy
Not true, I wanted to turn the tv off the minute I figured out it wasn't going to be a fair debate (right after they asked who pledges not to run third party) but husband wouldn't turn it off so I went to the bedroom and listened but didn't watch. I was thoroughly disgusted.
In before the zot?
I'm certain there was a plan by the Foxes to damage Trump during the debate. They'd been gloating and bragging about it for at least a couple of weeks, on the air, before the debate.
Megyn, several times, became as giddy as a schoolgirl while she talked about all the planning meetings and the the great questions they were coming up with, almost bouncing up-and-down in her chair. And she made it clear they were making special plans for Trump.
And Chris Wallace tapping his notebook, saying he had some "doozies" in there to ask.
They telegraphed it days in advance, on several different occasions. Very catty and unprofessional.
And this was commented on here at FR several times by me and others during those two weeks leading up to the debate.
You should learn to separate your crush on Kelly from actual facts.
