I have been through several of the Free Republic "Silly Seasons", aka, the Republican presidential primaries. Every one of them is rough, but this is the worst one of all.
I'm guilty of being a dog, but even this dog can learn new tricks. Here is my proposal:
LET NO ONE SPEAK ILL OF ANYONE ELSES CANDIDATE. ONLY POST POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT *YOUR* CANDIDATE.
I think that would just about eliminate the rancor.
We won't get 100% participation. But heck, if we got even a fraction of that, Free Republic would be a lot nicer a place, in this, the worst of all "Silly Seasons".
I pledge to do this. Who else is on board? Chime in!
Well, this is easy for me now that Yeb! is out of the race!
Just look at the tag lines that have responded so far. They don’t have to post some ugliness just let their tag line speak it.
Insulting another groups’ candidate over and over and over is BOUND to leave a portion bitter and spiteful.
and perhaps not show up at the generals if their person doesn’t win.
I’ve felt those emotions when I was for Cruz, because I’m human (some argue against that) :)
It damages our efforts to take the WH.

Too many people getting all butthurt about people on the internet not agreeing with them, this isn’t supposed to be an echo chamber.
If you are getting mad enough about a post that you’re about to click that caps lock button, put a leash on your dog and take him for a walk. You’ll be doing him and everyone else a favor.
I beg to differ. This is nothing compared to four years ago. I essentially had to leave FR for the last four years because people were being treated so horribly if they didn’t want Rand Paul. This election is mild compared to that.
Boy, that’s gonna’ be difficult. None of us has much we can say that’s good about our cadidates. :)
I’m cool with the other candidate, but I like to make fun of the other candidate’s supporters who suddenly forget all the bad things they once said about an adversary of their candidate but who then comes around to their candidate (”Grain pyramids? Never happened! Whatchu talkin’ about?”).
Was that wrong?
I never spoke ill of any candidates except praises for mine. So I guess I’ll not be part of this intervention. Go Trump

You mean it’s Presidential Primary season already? When did they sneak that in on us? I’m shock (shocked I tell ya’) that FReepers would sink to name calling.I can’t tolerate intolerance. I’ll place my quadrennial Alfred E. Neuman poster (of the What Me Worry party) in my yard and snipe at vandals.
I’ve mostly been successful and only bitten my tongue a couple of times until it bled, you’ve got the right idea.
