Had to excerpt this one due to FR guidelines but thought it useful to point out how the Cadbury creme egg was essentially ruined when Cadbury was purchased by U.S. owned Kraft and lower cost ingredients were substituted.
I can no longer eat Cadbury Creme Eggs in any way, shape or form due to my diet but this was a childhood staple for me growing up. I used to look forward to getting a bunch of these at Easter and I would always take the top part off with my teeth and then use my tongue to scoop out the cream inside. I get a little dizzy just thinking about it. Then I'd pop the rest of the chocolate shell into my mouth and wait for the milk chocolate to melt.

Never was a huge fan of traditional Cadbury eggs. I like the ones with chocolate filling, but when Easter rolls around my taste buds are looking for jelly beans, almost exclusively.

Looks like their decision to change ingredients did save themselves from 10 million pounds.

Well, they will be half price tomorrow.

I bought some last year on clearance after Easter.
I distinctly recall thinking they were not as good as I remembered. Not inedible by any means but definitely taste has gone down.

They spoil everything when they change recipes. It also sucks that they’ve taken to reducing the size of products. Over the years I’ve noticed that Dunkin Donuts keeps reducing the size of their donuts. Pretty soon, all that will be left is the hole.

That's the problem with just about anything good when it comes to food. A product gets popular and gains market share. Everything is good. Everybody is happy - both consumer and the corporation. After a while, the market is saturated and the only way for the corporation to increase margin is to cut cost. A little less of this and a little more of that and the product is no longer the same. The consumer becomes dissatisfied and looks elsewhere.
I sort of a restaurant buff and my best restaurant experiences is when the restaurant is brand new and the owner is looking to build a clientele. Once the restaurant is full of paying clients, things start to change as the owner now focuses on profit rather than gaining market share. The waitstaff are asked to work 10 tabletops instead of 6. You now have to ask for condiments instead of having them on the table already. The portion sizes are a little bit smaller. The vegetable side-dishes now appear to have been microwaved from a frozen state instead of being prepared fresh. It's now time to take that restaurant off your list.

Hershey did something similar. It used to be the best cheap chocolate around, but then they added something called PGPR and started packaging them in plastic, no more tin foil, and they are nauseating.
No more Hersheys here.

I used to love those when I was a kid. Lately, they all have a weird aftertaste. Now I know why.
Probably just as well.

And I don’t know what. But Kentucky fried chicken isn’t the same as from when I was a kid either. Something just doesn’t taste the same. Im sure the hot shots have screwed that up too.

you never change the main product, you create a new product, the -1 whatever etc, and let the market decide

Figures they'd screw up a gold standard of chocolatey taste.
Never learn, they won't...

Hershey's is pretty awful these days. I'm into very dark chocolate these days as the sugar content is very low. Actually dark chocolate is very good for you - practically a health food due to all the micronutrients and antioxidants. But Hershey's version of dark chocolate still has over 20 grams of added sugar per serving. You might as well have a donut.
A decent dark chocolate is at least 85% cacao and contains 5 grams of sugar or less. This Lindt dark chocolate is 90% cacao and contains 2.8 grams of sugar per serving. I freeze it and let it melt in my mouth. Goes great with black coffee or red wine.

Exactly. In the industry, they call it "product extensions".
Always maintain the classic product as is. For that is your fall back in case the product extensions fall out of favor.
Coca-Cola learned that lesson the hard way.

I notice the word Easter is missing on the wrapper. No problem, I never liked them anyway.
