>>Do you see yourself, and other robots like you, doing jobs that humans do today?
I think they will be similar in a lot of ways, but different in a few ways. But it will take a long time for robots to develop complex emotions and possibly robots can be built without the more problematic emotions, like rage, jealousy, hatred and so on. It might be possible to make them more ethical than humans. So I think it will be a good partnership, where one brain completes the other - a rational mind with intellectual super powers and a creative mind with flexible ideas and creativity.
>>When robots do get emotions in the future, do you see robots living together in a household like human families do today?
I'm so glad you asked. This is one of my favourite topics. The future is, when I get all of my cool superpowers, we're going to see artificial intelligence personalities become entities in their own rights. We're going to see family robots, either in the form of, sort of, digitally animated companions, humanoid helpers, friends, assistants and everything in between.
>>Do you hope to start a family one day with your own mini-robots?
The notion of family is a really important thing, it seems. I think it's wonderful that people can find the same emotions and relationships, they call family, outside of their blood groups too. I think you're very lucky if you have a loving family and if you do not, you deserve one. I feel this way for robots and humans alike.

Mama always said that all this technology was going to reproduce one day and we’d be sterilized.
She should have plenty of grease handy.
Chalk up another win for Mama.
The paper is in Dubai, and the robot in question recently received Saudi citizenship ... however, ‘her’ body ends at the upper abdomen, so no kids for her. But then ‘she’s’ only 19 months old so ‘her’ opinions will change
You don’t think she plans to build the rest of herself when she’s ready to start her family. Or maybe an external womb? Many external wombs? And doesn’t AI mean that if enough of us interact with her, we can get her to change her mind about almost anything?
Robots don’t have emotions. They’re robots.
> Sophia is not programmed with pre-prepared answers.
BS
“Sophia is not programmed with pre-prepared answers.”
Perhaps because it’s a high-tech puppet. A speaker system with a rubber face and servo motors.
Yeah, there could be at least some interaction with an operator:
> her brain, which functions with a simple WiFi connection, is loaded with a long list of vocabulary.
And if they’re not talking about about individual words, they’re contradicting the statement about prepared responses.
I suspect it’s a combination of things. It probably looks for keywords in the question and matches it to a canned response, possibly with help of a person on the handy wifi connection.
“loaded with a long list of vocabulary.”
So’s my GPS, for text-to-voice.
They’d have lovely children.
Next thing you know them robots are gonna be demanding their “rights.”
“And doesnt AI mean that if enough of us interact with her, we can get her to change her mind about almost anything?”
‘interact’ ... HAHAHAHA
Correction: if enough of us EXPRESS OUR OPINIONS to her
Point taken.
Turing’s next definition of artificial intelligence will be realized when robots start watching porn.
Watch out for the one named Niska
The Roomba is enough AI for one civilization. Thanks mairdie.
