Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIAL.SI) said it would launch the worlds longest commercial flight in October, a near-19 hour non-stop journey from Singapore to the New York area. The 8,277 nautical mile (15,329 kilometer) flight from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey with 161 business class and premium economy seats will eclipse the 7,843 nautical mile Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Auckland as the worlds longest, according to airline data provider OAG.

If given a choice of which airline to fly 19 hours Singapore would be a good choice.

19 hours. My neck hurts just thinking about it.
On the plus side, I always needed some private time to finally read War and Peace.

"...Singapore Airlines..."
It is like going back in time to the wonderful Golden Age of commercial flight. Superb customer service.

You’d have to sit in business class, if it’s a 19-hour flight. I did the 14-hour flight from Dubai to Sydney last fall. It requires a lot of patience.

19 hours is going to be pure torture... unless you’re in business class (or better) with a seat that goes fully flat.

I would rank them number 1 in all my airline experiences.

Compare to halfway around the world which is 20,000km.
If the route was any longer, I could find you a shortcut.

I used to go back and forth from Newark to Rio. On one flight they had only one movie, which happened to be “Men in Black.” I watched it 5 times.

If they had a ping pong table and some Tour of Duty stations, it could be doable.

I wonder if there will be cheaper seats next to the extra fuel tanks in the passenger compartment.

Family is contemplating doing one of these x-teen hour flights and we are seriously evaluating whether this can be done without climbing the walls and begging for mercy.

Indeed - if you are going to be on a plane for 19 hours, Singapore Air is the one to do it with
Do they still “retire” their stewardesses at 30 years old? Anyway, their service is great, and their planes are the cleanest I have been on.
