CHICAGO (CBS) — A 57-year-old woman is killed after being attacked by a pit bull on Chicago’s far South Side.
It happened near 101st and South Calhoun around noon Saturday.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, the dog charged at them. Both officers fired their guns killing the dog.
The victim was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The dog bit her throughout her body, including her neck.
Police are still investigating. It’s unclear where the dog’s owner was.
CBS 2 has confirmed the woman’s name is Karen Brown. Her nickname was “Punchie.” pw South Side Woman Killed By Pit Bull

According to a family member, there will be a vigil at the scene of the incident Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

ABC 7 reports that residents knew the victim as a “jack of all trades” type in the neighborhood, like cutting grass and going to get groceries for neighbors. She was about to cut grass when the pit bull attacked her. Police said the dog bit her all over her body, including her neck. Chicago police and animal control officers remain at the scene of the deadly dog attack. Currently, officers are going door-to-door trying to find out who owned the pit bull and how the animal got loose.

Whatever it takes to raise awareness that pitbulls do not belong anywhere near people. They should all be rounded up and shot before anyone else gets maulef.

I too love the government seizing peoples’ private property.
I mean, wow, thirteen deaths in a country of 320,000,000 in over seven months. This is clearly a crisis and all small government conservatives need to unite for a ban.

I don’t blame him. Pit bulls can’t be trusted. After a friend of mine got one. I don’t go visit them anymore.
Maybe Norski had baby that was eaten by his prized pit bull, and this is how he copes?
Norski has got to be a female. No guy worth anything would be this deathly afraid of a dog.
