Northern and Southern California seafood fans say they’re buying giant lobster claws sold at Costco stores, and photos on Instagram and Reddit suggest each claw is much larger than a human hand. Screenshot from Instagram

=================================================================

Seafood lovers on Instagram and Reddit are freaking out over photos showing gigantic lobster claws, and those posting the pictures say they bought them at Costco stores.

“This thing is unreal!” one Instagram user wrote this week, sharing a couple of photos of a massive claw in Southern California’s Newport Beach. “I mean, come on. I’ve seen a few big claws at Costco before, but this one’s crazy! We just had to get it.”

Another Instagram user, sharing more pictures, said the gargantuan claw size “makes me wonder how big the tail is.” Photos of those Kirkland-branded claws show them selling for around $45 each at a Costco in mid-February.

The claws come in a range of weights but generally are between 2 and 7 pounds, INSIDER reports. Most of the lobster claw sightings at Costco stores have been in California, according to the publication.

I love lobster. I wish I had so much lobster that when told that’s for dinner I could say.....lobster again? Sigh.
I don’t like fish, like shrimp and crab, but love lobster. I have a couple of nice tails in the freezer now that my neighbor in the marina gave me. He had a great lobster season this year.

With A Magnet.

I can’t be the only one, but I find lobster absolutely tasteless. As in, water has more flavor & taste.

Dude! Something is WRONG with you!

Yes...I’m the odd man out when the family gets seafood. Thankfully, I enjoy clams & fish so I’m not a lost cause.

Lobster is a butter delivery system.

Great plan!

I also love lobster. Being in Nebraska.... well, we almost never have it. We went to Plymouth, MA a few years ago, and having landed late and got lost in Boston, ended up looking for a good lobster meal after 8:30 p.m. The first place we went, kind of a bar/tavern, didn’t have lobster. The second place.... A very nice restaurant, almost empty on a Sunday night, had AMAZING lobster dinners. We really enjoyed that!

Went to a seafood buffet just north of Williamsburg, VA last September. They had crab legs, but not so much for lobsters. Still got our money’s worth, I expect.

I always say that crab, lobster and shrimp are just an excuse to eat butter.

I had that problem when I lived in Hawaii. Wife would come home from the commissary and complain there was no room in the fridge and freezer because of "all this damn lobster!"

My favorite (after lobster, I suppose) is nice, meaty clams, breaded and fried, with tartar sauce. Next up would be some lovely scallops broiled in garlic butter.
