Jeremy Lin has a new basketball team, and its far away from the NBA.
The NBA champion has signed with the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association after playing with the Toronto Raptors this past season, according to Darren Rovell on Tuesday.
Its been evident for a bit at this point that Lin didnt have much of a market left in the NBA. Overseas has seemed like his likely landing place for awhile.
While he might not be too happy about it, this situation is far from a losing one. Salaries in the CBA can be well north of a million dollars annually.
Lin is going to have the chance to make some serious money in China from his contract and endorsements.
Yes, Lin might not be in the NBA anymore and hes far removed from the days of Linsanity. However, that doesnt mean hes in a bad place.
Again, there is plenty of cash to be made overseas, especially in China. Given the fact Lin has a cult following, Id bet just about anything that hes going to make some serious money while in China.
I dont feel bad for him at all and neither should you. Hes in a position to stack up more cash in th
The NBA chapter of his career is over, but theres still money to be made. Lin is going to be just fine.e next year than most people make in a lifetime.
The deal was USD $3 Million for one season.
Would that be the Peking Ducks?
Love this dude. He’s going out on top, with a ring, and now he’s gonna be a MEGA-popular star in China. And a starter.
Possibly the smartest NBA player ever (yeah, he went to that NBA factory called - Harvard - as you will recall).
Are Beijing ducks the ones hanging by their necks in the window or the ones served with little buns and plum sauce to make duck sliders with? I get so confused...
What did that gal tell Bond in You Only Live Twice?
“yeah, he went to that NBA factory called - Harvard - as you will recall”
That was his safety school, his first choice was Stanford.
Probably a good move.
Sorry to say, but when he did get court time with the Raptors this year (less and less as the season went on), he didn’t impress. But he got to play with a championship team, so there’s that.
“Are Beijing ducks the ones hanging by their necks in the window or the ones served with little buns and plum sauce to make duck sliders with? I get so confused...”
The latter. On buns or pancakes with plum sauce and scallions. Delicious.
The roast duck from the window is also really good.
Interesting.
He better get his money up front.
Sounds yummy
I’ll take Bill Bradley.
Thanks! I like both!
But dang, I didn’t know things were so bad in Beijing that they gotta buy NBA players to turn into classic Mandarin Cuisine... I think I like the old school US version with the bird kind of duck a lot better.
That always confuses me. When they changed the name of Peking to Beijing , did Peking duck become Beijing duck??
.........
Quack... Quack
I prefer the Szechuan ducks.
The Chinese are HUGE basketball fans, this is not a bad move.
He is an open and avowed Christian.
China needs more of those.
And he doesn’t speak the language so it’d be good to learn?
As a young man of faith, maybe he’ll be able to use his celebrity to raise young Chinese fans’ social consciousness regarding persecution of Christians in the country.
