"Its important to stress that this doesnt paint Florida as out of the woods yet," said Kathryn Prociv, a meteorologist for NBC News.
"Florida is still very much in the red zone," she added.
Dorian will continue westward through the weekend but is then forecast to turn northward as it approaches the east coast of Florida early next week, the center said. It will bring "risks of life-threatening storm surge, devastating hurricane-force winds, heavy rainfall and flooding along its path."
As of the NHC's 8 a.m. ET advisory Saturday, the storm was located 280 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas and 445 miles east of West Palm Beach.
The latest forecast track has narrowed the "Cone of Concern," as Miami-Dade County no longer faces the threat of the center of the hurricane. Parts of Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale, remain in the possible path of a Dorian landfall, according to the NHC.

Will the MSM send people to stand in the wind and tell everyone how dangerous it is ?

Will the MSM send people to stand in the wind and tell everyone how dangerous it is ?Maybe not, but they'll sure go stand in a ditch to show how terrible the flooding is.

There have been so few hurricanes so far this season, which deflates the AGW windbags; they feel the need to flog ol’ Dorian like a rented mule. So now they want the Carolinas, as well as Florida to be quaking in fear. Next they’ll be warning the folks in Maine to put plywood over their windows. Look out, Prince Edward Island! Here comes Dorian!

the need to flog ol Dorian like a rented mule
Now that made me laugh, though also I couldnt help feeling a pang of compassion for all the rented mules who ever lived.

A bunch of liberals were mocking DeSantis’s praying that Florida would be spared. Praise Jesus!

I think President Trump has a hurricane deflection machine at Mar-a-Lago.

Every year they predict whether it will be a bad or a mild hurricane season. They even give the probable number of storms. Does anyone keep a record of these predictions to see if they are accurate?

Good news!
I already prepped a good bit for this one, so I’ll be set for the next one.
Poor news media and various insane leftists. Too bad, so sad. Better luck next time.

LOL. Yes, the liberals were hoping for destruction at Mar A Lago to damage Trump personally.

Looks like Florida and the Carolinas may be in for more of a mid-sized blow and some rain if the current projections pan out...here’s hoping it loops further into the Atlantic and drains its energy safely.

I’m wondering if flights are going to be cancelled on Tuesday morning. I’m scheduled to hit Miami around 10 then leave at 11:30 to Barbados.

So the Cone of Uncertainty moved for the Donut of Destruction? That would be good for Florida BUT, speaking as a vet of many hurricanes who knows how freaky they can be, I wouldn't relax in Florida. Sure, they can turn, but a sharp right inches from the coast is not something on which I'd risk my safety.
Remember, days ago the 'experts' said it was going to dissipate!
As long as any storm is over water it isn't over-and Florida, topologically, does not hinder any hurricane-its flat swampland. Many BAD ones have come right out into the Gulf, so I don't trust any of these Stormyodas about the future. Too many times we've heard 'Whoops, well these things ARE unpredictable'.
I DO hope Dorian obeys their predictions.
