My boss told me to shut up about Trump so I plan to wear RED all next week during Impeachment Trial.

I cannot go into details because I don't want to harm the innocent parties involved, but here is the basic true story:

My workplace is exceedingly liberal. A few conservatives, but we're outnumbered. I don't hide my views, but I also don't get in fights with others. Honestly.

Seven or eight months ago, maybe longer, I was told my comments offended people and could get me fired. I asked what the specific comments were, and no one could tell me. The response was basically "We all have heard you say things..."

A few days into the new year, I was again read the riot act, told that if I offend anyone else I will lose my job. One of the bosses (there were two) told me not to even talk about the weather or sports. Only work related words should be coming out of my mouth.

I told them I have been very careful about using any language that could be construed as offensive. I asked again for what exactly was my offense. No one could give me a quote.

So, I am doing my best to watch out. I am a good employee and have been that a long time.

What I think I'll do this week is wear RED (not a hat of course LOL) during my work hours. The red will be in solidarity with MAGA. I will do my best to remain quiet.

maybe because agreeing to disagree only works until the scale tips and those you disagree with have multiple and or gotten themselves into positions to make your life miserable on so many levels.

agreeing to disagree is not a resolution to an issue, it’s just setting it aside unresolved. you being good natured may not fester or choose to do anything more about it, but evil minded or hearted people will for sure.

Can the employer do without you?

Can you do without the employer?

“... but we are ruled by corps. “

There is some truth to this perspective, only insofar as the federal and state governments decide not otherwise. As I have had to go up against a few, with my current issue “in process”. You’ve got to know what you are doing, be able to do it, keep your emotions in check and you have to know their achilles heal.

On the other hand, most corporations are small operations, so many have limited control reach.

You will have to move on. If they’ve already been overt, then the knives have already been sharpened. Get that resume fixed up. Sorry to be a doom and gloomer! This smells like an HR trap.

I will likely be the only person on this thread who'll say this, but say this nonetheless:

You do not have freedom of speech @ work and your political affiliation is NOT a protected class.

In short, your employer can fire you for your political speech @ work.

Sounds like you really don't like your job anyway so have at it. Give them the pleasure of firing your ass as opposed to your being there on Thursday Nov. 4th to witness them all wailing, gnashing and crying that President Trump got another four years, living in their heads rent-free making their poor, pathetic lives a living hell.

Just sayin'...

If you wear red you might be mistaken for Antifa.

The golden rule applies. He who has the gold makes the rules.

Unless you are being discriminated against in a manner that is against Federal or State Law(a protected class) then you really have no case.

As others have said don’t talk politics at work. Clearly some one has it out for you and they have the bosses ear. Weigh your options carefully.

I’d use the word “deplorable” ;-)

As others have already said, you’re already on the path to the High Jump. They’re just getting their ducks in a row to dump you at a time that is most convenient to them (and if possible, as inconvenient to you as they can manage). Were I you, I’d preemptively bail on them, preferably in as inconvenient a manner (to them) as you can e.g. Monday late morning, or shortly before your milestone for the Big Project is due etc. They’re already going to be hurting when they lose you, because as a conservative you’re probably among the best workers, might as well really drive home the point to them.

Document every conversation relevant to the above by keeping a diary. Day, time and what was said........You may need it.

And don't talk politics at work any more.....

Such a posture would show trust that my Creator is able to take care of my situation.

Your creator may guarantee you a place in heaven but He can't and won't guarantee you a job.........

If they ever fire you I would dox them including their company. But do it under a different profile even on FreeRepublic. Heck I would dox them on the dark web too.

Why is it necessary to talk about politics at work at all?

You and another FReeper made this point.

It's always good to have some "comrades in arms" at work when it comes to beliefs, viewpoints, etc.

But OP, you're there to work. There's plenty of keyboard commandos on this thread saying to go off on the boss, co-workers, etc. See how many of those big mouths will be willing to help you with bills and living expenses if you get fired.

Do your job as best you can without bringing up politics, religion, etc. If other people bring those things up, ignore them.

Rule #1 of the Work World: There is NO PERSON an employer can’t do without. Never, ever fool yourself into believing you are indispensable.

I can relate to this. The company policy had really not entered into it, but some employees started expressing the opinion as to how great Obama was going to be as president. I just explained that I hope they could agree to disagree, but sometimes they wouldn’t have it that way. Some still feel he was the greatest I guess. I am out of that situation now & hope they have gotten over it too. I never discuss our current president if I see them. If I did, it would probably start all over. And these folks were supposedly well-educated. Hard to figure.

I’m aware. Please keep in mind, though, that this country was essentially founded on that.

One side switched tact and embraced the dark side. Also a given. It let us not fall into the path that took the other side towards the abyss.

Let’s make being decent, Great Again.

Yea, yea, yea I know. I will never live to see it.
