He needs to sue the owner of the dogs, not the post office.
Yup. Accountability. The postal workers should be able to carry sidearms. Oh wait.
He says they have to repaint the whole side. I guess carrier probably scratched it in multiple places as he ran beside it.
Dont know anything about car painting. Indicated it had to be repainted to match or they couldnt match the paint.Dont remember
Ayup. But the Post Office has deeper pockets.
oh I am..
I do repairable cars, one thing I have learned with insurance companies, they want to deal with the shop, not the owner of the car.
I finely gave in and brought it to a buddies shop who deals with “Jake” and getting paid..
they are fighting with him too. But eventually I’ll get a check for the right amount.
Since I do a ton of F150s I have all the parts to put it back together in stock already. Just waiting for everything to be settled (and buy the buddy his case of beer for dealing with them) to get it fixed.
You can get Detroit houses for that or less.
I’m from a farming family too. But California land seems to fall under real estate. once farmland of my family ...falls to housing now.
Carrier was on one side of the street walking to deliver mail. Pitbulls or some kind of aggressive dogs come running after him from the other side of the street.
Dude flees for his life and mail gets thrown in the air as he tries to escape being mauled to death
Home owner seems to nonchalently come after the dogs
That’s probably not an unreasonable estimate. A couple of yeas ago I did a stupid and turned my SUV too quickly into my garage, scratching up the right side. Repairs cost $2.300. Body work is very costly.
If Mr. French has comprehensive insurance on his vehicle, he should make that kind of a claim. There’s a good chance his insurance rates won’t be affected, since his actions didn’t cause the damage. Also his insurance company is likely to sue the dogs’ owner to collect for both of their claims.
Puleeeeez! The USPS pay for anything? They don’t pay for lost or damaged packages. I had many, don’t recall getting anything from them. They lost the packages and refused payment for them. They put you through a wringer with paper work and then come up with some cockamamie excuse why they won’t pay. My insurance company paid for the loss. 2 loose pit bulls? Looks like the proximate cause is the loose dogs. The act of the carrier was reasonable and prudent. In this case the USPO owes their employee a defense.
A mailman jumping into the back of this Dodge Ram caused $4500 in damage? This is why you buy a Ford.
Just watched it again. Seems like it was a scrawny kid with a football walking with his two loose dogs
My dad was a letter carrier in the 80s. Heard a lot of stories about dogs. He mostly delivered to mail boxes but this on house had a pit-bull that would try to get at him on a regular basis. He would crack the door on his jeep and blast the dog in the face with what he was issued and trained to use in those circumstances. The label said “HALT” spray, what we would consider mace or pepper spray probably. Anyway, he would spray the dog and have enough time to deposit the mail in the box, by the time he got to the next mailbox the dog was back again and he’d have to spray him again. That breed can be relentless. Don’t blame the mailman in this case, the animals owner does not control his animals properly IMO. Also, IIRC the post office reserves the right not to deliver mail if the carrier is in danger, leaving it up to the mail recipient to pick up mail at the distribution hub.
I do not see any damage.
The truck owner is a scam artist, most likely.
The shop that provided the estimate should be investigated for fraud.
Sounds like a neighborhood full of criminals.
You are correct. The dog owner is at fault. The way this goes, as I understand it, is that the USPS sues the dog owner to recover its loss. The USPS should be happy to pay the vehicle owner reasonable damages, and roll this is the liability of the dog owner.
The owner of the dogs has no money. The USPS does.
“umping into the back of this Dodge Ram caused $4500 in damage?”
Its a MOPAR...prolly totaled it. lol
The dog owner has no money.
And the innocent party should be “happy to pay?”
Seriously?
I’m skeptical of the dates of the “previous” (er, new-found) scuffs and scrapes on the paint. Pickup trucks get used = Not likely to be the first person to stand inside the pickup truck bed, to load trash in it or to haul things in it.
Doesn’t mean the post office employee didn’t get in the truck, cause some damage. But all of it?
“Ahh... is there anywhere in the US that has homes at $28,000?”
