There are many questions surrounding what will happen with the autonomous zone now called Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) established in downtown Seattle. Fox News spoke to Michael Withey, a human rights lawyer and longtime Seattle activist, about CHOPs purpose and how it has developed over the past week.
I don't speak for the leadership. I only have gone there as a legally trained person in human rights. But I think it's going to be there for a long time. As the mayor said, it's going to be a summer of love. That's what I hope it is, but it's the summer of struggle. It's the summer of education, Withey told Fox News.
Withey has been at the forefront of all major Seattle protests since the 70s, including the 1999 WTO protest, the 1972 Beacon Hill school occupation and more. A few days ago he was given approval by the CHOP General Assembly to set up CHOP legal, a table within the zone where he can advise protesters on their legal rights.
I talked to the General Assembly, we met and got the approval to get a CHOP legal table set up in the area. We're trying to recapture the soul of America. And I think it's important because we're creating institutions of popular power. Like, for instance, the CHOP Legal, like the General Assemblies. We have breakout groups every day that are discussing how do we want to go about educating our youth, he said.

This isn’t going to end soon or quietly.
This is Anarchism, not Fascism.
The Charles Manson commune, Jim Jones in Guyana or David Koresh in Waco?
This old hippie should have joined one of them communes of free love in the 60’s.
I have looked at the “people” that are hanging out in CHOP. They are not society’s success stories....
This is the same nonsense that sovereign citizens try to pull. Both claim they don't have to follow U.S. law and are above it, while everyone has to follow U.S. law and their own made up laws.
“I have looked at the people that are hanging out in CHOP. They are not societys success stories....”
If the left has it’s way, they will be society’s success stories.
I remember the losers taking over the Columbia Student Union and rioting at the D National convention in the 60’s and the weather underground. Truly ridiculous people.
They became enormously powerful heads of foundations dispensing billions, the mayor of Santa Monica, the Attorney General of the United States and multiple secretaries of state of the United States.
That whole legalizing marijuana thing sure worked out well, didn’t it?
Remember when we put a sheet over a table to make a fort? My 6 year old grandson has transformed the formal dining room into his autonomous zone. These folks remind me of children.
Where does their authority come from?
Do Human Rights contain both Civil and Uncivil Rights?
Civilian and Military Rights?
Is he working pro bono? Or is money coming to him from “outside?”
Did she bring enough acid for everyone?
When are the Bureau of Land Management or ATF going to come in? Or do they only shoot “right wing” people?

Tell him you are a disenfranchised voter who’s elected leadership has been cast out of power by hijackers with guns who burned down government buildings.
So thats what a CHOP shop is
This is not federal land, unlike Malhuer.
No federal court houses or other recruiting centers, immigration offices, social security, etc?
