Baking Soda & Epson Salt

Posted on 06/28/2020 1:05:07 PM PDT by Dacula

I am tired of buying store-bought products that do more harm than good.

I am curious if fellow FReepers were using baking soda and Epson Salt on a regular basis and if so what is your favorite tip.

Perhaps you have another 'Secret' product that you use.

I use Dawn on my paint brushes. Rinse them well, then add some straight Dawn into the base of the bristles and lather up well, then rinse out.

I make an insect spray out of tea tree oil. It kills brown recluse spiders and does not harm the cats.

Please share your recipe.

Same here. Epsom Salt is good if you have any skin conditions like psoriasis. Just put it in bathwater. It’s also a good source of magnesium.

Anything. I cleaned a bunch of coins the other day with baking soda. I also use a teaspoon of baking soda to help an upset stomach.

What are you using it for? To clean? OR to soak?

In the old days, when you had an upset stomach, you used bicarbinate of soda. It is basically baking soda.

The antiseptic properties of baking soda help reduce the acid levels in the urine and combat the bacteria. Baking soda water provides amazing benefits for cleansing your gut, further balancing your pH levels. For all those dealing with digestive issues can easily try drinking this potion. It doesn’t taste like that fine wine you are used to, and it doesn’t take a lot of the powder to get it done. Best to try to drink the glass as fast as possible and get ready for the resounding burp.

One of the biggest benefits is that it is known to counter acid reflux, thanks to its alkaline properties. It helps neutralise stomach acids and provides relief from indigestion in adults. Most health experts swear by mixing baking soda with water, which is also a great source of relieving heartburn, of course in limited quantity.

Dawn is an amazing cleaning product on many surfaces.

As an aside, many moons ago I knew a Dawn - a very special lady who I recall each time I use Dawn. Not sure what that means...just an observation.

When I was growing up the hardware store used to sell saltpeter by the pound. They had a big wooden barrel of saltpeter. We kids would scrape up 25 cents and buy a pound or so, and then pickup a bag of sugar for our "recipe". Cheap thrills and a lot of smoke!

One liter of water, half cup of vodka (get the cheap stuff!) and twenty drops of tea tree oil.

Change it to basil oil and spray around your windows and doors to keep flies away.

and does not harm the cats.

Any ideas for sugar ants that is not toxic to cats? I used borax until some web site said that might not be good for pets.

The Kirkland brand (Costco) Dawn colored detergent is no where near as good as real Dawn.
