"The achievement represents the first successful attempt to reverse glaucoma-induced vision loss, rather than merely stem its progression, the team said."

Perhaps they should have added the words "using this method". I've found some surprising articles on the benefits for vision of supplements like fisetin and quercetin. E.g.

Fisetin rescues retinal functions by suppressing inflammatory response in a DBA/2J mouse model of glaucoma

It would be nice to see properly again, without using stem cells.

I would really like to meet the people who want to live on this planet for forever.

Are their lives so wonderful that they want to keep spending every day the same way?

I don’t think that there really are a lot of people who want every day to be the same as today and to have that go on for forever.

I do think that there are a lot of people who are afraid of dying and death.

What will they miss out on?

What if there really is a hell?

Fear.

If they can regenerate dead or dying nerve cells in the eye with new nerve cells, this would be miraculous.

Lots of deep subjects on FR today.

Are there too many people?

Can people live for forever?

Do these pants make me look fat?

I see the article as not so much folks wanting to live forever, but to live better while here. And if it adds some more years with healthy bodies then meh, sure, why not? In the old days folks lived into the hundreds because their dna was more pure, not as many mutations to cause diseases. It’s not so much the fear of dying but rather the desire to live stronger while alive I think

Nobody said a damned thing about wanting to live forever.

I will say that my deteriorating vision is one of the things making me want to DIE RIGHT NOW. Go act like you’re above it all somewhere else.

Suppose that you are given a medicine and can live for forever.

The Chinese take over the world.

They don’t like you and send you to dig salt.

You will spend eternity digging salt.

We are not alone on this planet.

We live in a world filled with people who are just bags of emotions walking around.

—The phosphorylated p65 level in the nucleus was dramatically reduced in fisetin-treated mice compared to it in untreated mice. Our results demonstrate that fisetin mtay exert its function through regulating cytokine productions—

Interesting, because covid victims succumb to cytokine issues, or rather cytokine issues cause health problems in people with covid... Not really wording that correctly, but cytokine play a part in covid at any rate.

I wonder if roasting might also be of some help not just in covid but other things like flu, illnesses where cytokine reactions worsen issues etc.

At any rate, let’s hope they can help folks with worsening eyesight. No fun growing old if one loses ones vision

Touched a nerve there, didn’t I?

Helen Keller was blind, but she enjoyed life.

Don’t dwell on your eyesight.

Dwell on what you have.

You still have plenty and plenty to offer.

In the old days folks lived into the hundreds because their dna was more pure, not as many mutations to cause diseases.

If you are going back to the time of Noah and Methusaleh, it is a stretch to say that it was DNA purity. We just don't know.

If you go more recent (1600s-1700s), I will tell you that in my hometown cemetery in Wallingford, CT, there are certainly folks over 100, but there are also MANY MORE who died at a very young age. These days, people with weaker immune systems who would have died young are kept alive to live a full life. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

Suppose none of that were to happen? And besides, there are ways out of servitude.

And, I wouldn’t want a —0forever— drug anyways. Even old testament folks bodies wore out even with purer dna, they eventually died but got to live a long time, healthy

I don’t think it’s a stretch. Adam was created to live forever, you can’t have that with the multitude of mutations we carry today.

And I think dna, mrna investigations tracing human roots have found evidence of increasing mutations over time if I recall correctly?
