January 6th Commission is Coming … Here’s How MAGA Can Use it To Beat Dems at Their Own Game
Revolver news ^

A 9/11-style committee to investigate the January 6 Capitol incursion may be imminent.

The House passed a bill Wednesday authorizing a bipartisan, independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 pro-Trump assault on the U.S. Capitol, but the proposal could stall in the Senate after GOP leaders in Congress and former President Donald Trump urged Republicans to reject it.

The legislation was the product of negotiations between the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Democrat Bennie G. Thompson of Mississippi, and the panel’s top-ranking Republican, John Katko of New York. Modeled on the probe carried out by the 9/11 Commission following the 2001 terrorist attacks, the panel would have five members appointed by Democratic leaders and five by Republican leaders, with shared responsibility for issuing subpoenas.

“I strongly believe this is a fair and necessary legislation,” Mr. Katko said before the vote Wednesday. “I encourage all members, Republicans and Democrats alike, to put down their swords for once, just for once, and support this bill.” [WSJ]

Despite the heroic opposition of figures like Matt Gaetz, and the less heroic but still welcome opposition of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, 35 House Republicans joined with the Democrats Wednesday to approve the commission’s creation. The measure now goes to the Senate. If ten Senate Republicans defect (or if Democrats decide to trash the filibuster for this), the commission will happen.

American patriots are justifiably wary of creating this kind of commission. Revolver itself has previously warned about the dangers it could pose. Merely by existing, it would legitimize insane comparisons with past American events, like the Kennedy assassination or 9/11 Commission following the 2001 terrorist attacks, the panel would have five members appointed by Democratic leaders and five by Republican leaders, with shared responsibility for issuing subpoenas.

Plus, anything that Liz Cheney is smugly celebrating on Twitter should give cause for alarm.

The orchestrated incursion, with ANTIFA activists, is something the left is never going to stop using to demonize conservatives.

The wording...

The only thing that surprises me is how much systematic control of government the left has. I knew it was bad, but Trump exposed just how bad.

That is why they hate him.

Let the left wet their pants with happiness over the 1/6 commission.

We are forming the more authentic ongoing BLM ANTIFA criminal insurrection commission.

Unless Republicans gain control of the House next year, all this B.S. is only going to get worse.

It would be nice if they could get back the House AND pick a Speaker who isn’t as feckless as McCarthy. But, that’s probably far too much to hope for.

So if the Senate votes the January 6th commission down, what’s to stop the Democrats from just holding hearings on their own? They spent two years looking into Benghazi using just House committees without any need for Senate approval. What’s to stop them from using the same tactic on this?

This was going to happen...no matter what. Stomp your feet or become part of the narrative. Regardless. the 9-11 committee solved nothing and neither will this.

Agreed. We can NEVER beat the Dems at their own game as long as we use their language.

This is why we lose.

No way the Reps can spin this abomination. The Dems with the MSM and Big Techw will use it to maintain control over Congress. Game, set, and match.

35 Reps in the House voted for it along with every Dem. All 10 Reps who voted for impeachment have a vested interest in blaming Jan 6 on Trump.

I’ve always thought a 1/6 commission would be a fine idea.

It would bring out the truth as to who murdered Ashli Babbitt.

(Yes I know. That’ll never be known.)

January 6

February

March

April

May

It’s so important and frightening that it takes them 4 1/2 months.

Hahahahahahaha!

The Democrats act like thieving 10 year olds.

It’s a farce and only furthers the lie that it was an “insurrection”. They are enshrining it alongside 9/11.
There is no upside.

The left will manage this to peak before the 2022 elections. They already chose their weapon.

There is no way for the minority party on the committee to raise any of the topics this article suggested.

Oh, they hate him — and us — for a whole lot of reasons. His defeat of the Hildabeast and the leftist/establishment’s globalist agenda are chief among them.

The copy and paste was giving me fits. I pasted and things I never selected or copied would paste. I could not see the whole thing in the small window for pasting so I did not see that the 3 or 4 things I fought with were not the only thing that were wrong. I never had that happen before.

I wonder what position Jamie Gorelick will hold on this.

If an armed robber confronts you in the street and gestures for you to enter a nearby darkened alleyway... it would be insanity to think you can use the change to your advantage.

Everything a thief does is to better protect THEM. Same with this commission.

Politics is broken, corrupt, and illegitimate. The best play is to not cooperate... at... all.
