Forget James Bond’s gadgets, the supercars of “Fast and Furious” or “Dune”’s stunning landscapes — when it comes to box office smash hits, China’s Communist Party has nailed it this year.

“The Battle at Lake Changjin,” a 176-minute epic starring Chinese actor Wu Jing, isn’t only the highest-grossing film worldwide so far in 2021 but has become China’s biggest film ever — toppling 2017’s “Wolf Warrior 2,” which also stars Wu — according to ticketing platform Maoyan Entertainment. The movie was commissioned by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, otherwise known as the propaganda department.

The film tells the story of how People’s Volunteer Army (PVA) troops entered North Korea and valiantly defeated the Americans mid-last century.

Since its September 30 release during China’s National Day, it has raked in a hefty $891 million, including presale tickets, according to Maoyan.

MacArthur was right, Truman was wrong.

They forced the US to retreat from Chosin Resevoire. They paid with over 48000 casualties, possibly as high as 60k, most of them from the sub-zero weather.
It ended any hope of the UN re-uniting the peninsula, but the heavy Chinese casualties meant they couldn’t go on to take South Korea.

Truman was an artillery sergeant in WWI, and a haberdasher vs. a career military genius and his heritage of warfighters and Leaders.

So true- and Truman was being run by Commies, and all of DC was in on it. Chi-Coms back then no where near to where they are now. And millions died because of them before and since.
Human life cheap— as all good demonrats view the usefulness of the “mob” called “democracy” totalitarianism.

Surprised some Hollyweirdos didn’t volunteer to star as the “foul enemy of the people”

Maybe John Cena could apologize in Mandarin in the post credit scene.

In the course of that war they lost 1,000,000 men. A salute to General Matthew Ridgeway. He set up quad 50 caliber machine guns to repel human wave charges. The “meat grinder “ did a great job.

A movie that tells a story about the result of cooperation between the Red loving Truman administration and the Red Chinese.

The North Koreans must get up every morning and cheer that the Chinese forced them to stay communist.

Ever wonder how this same Communism Chinese Army could not defeat the Japanese in combination with the Nationalist Chinese Army and the American....from 31 to 45

But then defeat the Nationalist Chinese Army in 48 and fight the American and UN Army to a stalemate in 52?

The Communism sandbagged again the Japanese and let the Nationalist Chinese Army and Chinese civilians bear the load

How many movies have the CCP made about China being Japan's whore until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor?

Without the U.S. everybody in China would be speaking Japanese.

My brother-in-law was there. He remembers when the Chinese came in screaming and running, shooting. They shot them down like dogs.
Then the next wave picking up the guns of the first. Shot them down.
Then the next wave again picking up what guns they could find, some armed with clubs and rocks.

Again they shot them down before having to pull out. He walked across Korea from east to west and back five times.

When he was relieved and placed on a ship heading back to the US, through the Indian Ocean and Europe, he refused to get off until they came into a US port.

Is this like a usual Chinese Opera type film in which a soldier will pick up a sword, then flying through the air whack off half a dozen enemy heads?
I saw that in a Chinese movie. One soldier whacked off 7 or 8 Japanese soldier’s heads in one jump.

I should also mention that after the Chinese came to power, they had so many excess males they did not know what to do with them.
So they sent them to Korea to be killed off.

Check that - Truman was a Captain and company commander of an artillery unit. I also suggest you read American Caesar by William Manchester and/or The Coldest Winter by David Halberstam for a more balanced view of MacArthur’s “military genius”. Truman’s opinion of MacArthur was that he was “a pompous, posturing jackass”. After having researched the topic, I’m convinced that MacArthur was an officer in the mold of George Armstrong Custer, another preening, vain glorious martinet.

Custer had his Battle of Washita where he abandoned the field without accounting for all of his troops, twenty-six of whom were later discovered killed and mutilated by the avenging Cheyenne Indians who Custer had “defeated”. MacArthur had his abandonment of his command on Bataan because “he was ordered to Australia to organize a relief force” leaving General Wainwright holding the bag and becoming the highest ranking POW in a Japanese prison camp in Manchuria for three and a half years. Both surrounded themselves with an adoring gang of sycophants who sheltered them from any criticism or bad publicity. Ironically, both also had women in their life (MacArthur’s mother and Custer’s wife) who made a career out of advancing the cult of their “military geniuses.”

My father in law drove an M16 halftrack with a mounted quad fifty and took part in several actions against ChiCom forces.

Calling MacArthur a military genius is a bit much. He had exactly one bright moment. That was the occupation of Japan. Beyond that he was a dud who started in incompetence, and prolonged the pacific war by several months.

Unlike MacArthur, Custer had a long string of decisive victories often against long odds, and very likely saved the Union at Gettysburg. He overextended once and it got him killed.
