I don’t see any other way out of this, unfortunately.

Conservatives/Republicans are not "digging in".

We stand on our conviction(s) that there is truth, which is not up for arbitration;

The ending of innocent life in the womb is murder,

Spending money we don't have . . . nay, GIVING IT AWAY, is stupid,

The Biden clan is a crime family,

Democrats, on the other hand are "dug in" and insist it is raining out while pissing on America.

"Is it just me or does the country seem more divided not less? Both sides, right and left, appear to be taking a position, digging in their heels, accusation and finger pointing at an all time high. How long can this go on? How does it end?"

This has always been the case. Check out some US history. What we are witnessing now is the impact of massive changes in communication technology.

The emotional ones still scream like before, but they are now heard more often. It feeds their energy. There is no end to the chicken littles (just look at this thread).

The world is not going to end. The United States is not going to end; at least while you and I are around. It's a big ship full of people who all think differently, and it takes a long time to change course.

Good and bad things will happen, no matter what.

You're best served keeping an optimistic perspective. The only thing you can really control is how you see the world.

True intellectual types are leaving both parties and headed more towards the middle.

How do you head to the middle on child mutilation? Infanticide? Drag Queen story hour for kids? Child trafficking? CRT? Intersectionality? Election fraud? Only an “intellectual” could make this leap of cognitive dissonance.

“Social media seems to have contributed to an outbreak of national neurosis.”

At work I would see parents whose 5 yo kid are playing on their phones! No coloring books or picture books.

Parents have let social media raise their kids for the last 25+ years.

It ain’t gonna end well.

(Used to work with a lot of Gen Zs. For the most part a very narcissistic group.)

Being in the middle doesn’t mean someone is necessarily blasé or accepting of all issues. It just means they aren’t overly committed to one side or the other, especially emotionally.

One measure of intellect is able to see issues through the eyes of both parties in debate. It is often necessary for supervisors to have this ability, to fairly judge outcomes. It doesn’t mean they don’t still internally believe that one party is typically, if not almost always, more correct than the other. They’re just not afraid to address that party in the times they believe they are wrong, as it is not an emotional judgement, it is a logical one, that may unfortunately hurt that person emotionally.

I consider myself a very far right conservative in my principles. I see very little on the left that I agree with. But, I am not so emotionally committed to the right, that I march in complete lockstep with them all the time, and give them every benefit of the doubt. When they screw up, I am very quick to criticize them. And there are some (very rare) times I actually agree with the left, which then puts me more in the center of the scale than what my true principles are.

But it’s about being intellectually honest, and not emotionally over-committed to the right, or suffering from unconditional love of political figures, that we have historically seen on the left but are starting to see more of now on the right. Hope that all makes sense, but feel free to pick it apart if you don’t think it did.

Much more. Trump for better or worse is a polarizing figure who has made people fish or cut bait. And they hate him for it. It is what conservatives have wanted for a long time. The short run is that we lose some elections. The long term is that we know who are Gideon’s 300 are.

How long did the Russians and Chinese suffer under Communism before those systems collapsed? How long have the Cubans suffered? We're importing more people everyday who will accept whatever yoke is put on them as well.

Meanwhile, what did the truckers strike accomplish? What have the yellow vests accomplished? How many 1%ers did Occupy Wallstreet take down? How much has the Tea Party done to reduce the debt or flow of illegals?

How does it end?

Read the last book of the Bible: Revelation

This is only one chapter. So read the entire book for more clarity and the Bible says you will be blessed if you read it!

And look at the end of this chapter:

17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

Here is the entire chapter.

The Beast from the Sea

13 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the [e]patience and the faith of the saints.

The Beast from the Earth

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

If you need someone to explain it, Pastor John MacArthur does this for you and so do other Bible teachers: here:

The vast majority are keeping their heads down, their powder dry, and waiting for things to go back to normal if that is ever possible.

Good thinking! Sometimes I find myself in that situation. The problem is that I may die, "waiting for things to go back to normal."

yep, more divided and elections are not making either party changed course, but instead digging in further.

It ends in tears, fire and blood.

Nothing I can do about it.

They want to kill us and I personally am not inclined to lay down and die quietly.

You will decide for yourself of course.

How long can this go on? How does it end?

Historically, such a divide with irreconcilable differences has resulted in either wars of attrition, or massacres.

This time it might be different, but I'd bet on history.

This division was predicted early in the internet. Internet news sites would attract those who agree with their slants. Those who are attracted to left or right sites would eventually not go to opposing sites. Left and right sites would eventually cover their preferred news, resulting in two sides that are ignorant of the other side’s views. There is no hope of reconciliation. The end result is one side eventually taking over and oppressing the other.

Agreed. People seem to ignore that this country had it own civil war. I say we are right in the middle of CWII.

I agree that it does seem that the country is more divided but I do not think it is just you that has caused it to be this way.
