Santa Cruz police are warning residents not to approach a man dressed up as the "Cookie Monster," that is wandering around the city's beach and wharf areas.
Police said they have received multiple calls and emails from residents who say the man is "creepy" and makes them "uncomfortable." Police identified the man as Adam Sandler; not related to the actor.
Sandler is not employed, contracted, or permitted by the City of Santa Cruz or any local businesses on the wharf, authorities said. Police said it's the prerogative of the parent if they want their children to take pictures with him, though based on his "history across the country," they advise not to engage with him.

Police specified his history included "unpredictable" vulgar comments and "troublesome" behavior.
Santa Cruz police also said Sandler has "caused issues from New York City to Los Angeles."
Sandler is practicing his first amendment rights, authorities said, but said if you are a victim or witness a crime by him to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department immediately.
Those who have concerns or hear him claim to be an employee of the City or business can contact the police here.
Is this Adam Schiff’s campaign costume?
What a bunch of bigots. He identifies as Cookie Monster.
Looks like Cookie Monster must be putting crack in his cookies
I’m surprised Bert and Ernie haven’t gotten in on the action yet.

Probably gives the women compliments as if coming from a heterosexual male. That is “creepy” these days.
This was before Big Mike ruined him by turning him into veggie monster.
Glad they got that out of the way.
Well, related in the sense that both had their glory days a long time ago. [If that's not too Don Lemony] And both haven't been funny for a long time.78
I thought you could “identify” as anything you wanted to in Insanity Cruz.
A guy in a cookie costume creeps people out and makes them uncomfortable. People call police. Police advise not to engage. Those who call the police are not singled out for mistreatment.
Now imagine this. A man dressed as a woman goes into a school and puts on a show for the kids. He has ample lipstick and a sizeable wig. Perhaps huge balloons that some would call “breasts.” Anyone who complains is investigated by the fbi and is fired, canceled, blackballed, suspended and $2,500 is taken from his Paypal account.
Then imagine this: The creepy guy reveals that this is his fetish, and that he’s actually a “cookie gender.” Immediately he becomes a god. Police advise people to not to call the police. Anyone who did is put on a list and then is fired and canceled and forced to apologize.
I never thought I would watch insanity take over a once-great country.
What he is probably starts with a “P”.
Psychotic?
Its Santa Cruz, after all.
Me, a midwestern farm kid who attended a Christian college - on a trip to California in 1990 with friends - visited a mutual acquaintance at UC Santa Cruz (the banana slugs)
I saw a group of about 14 stoners/hippies, on LSD, playing frisbee, laying on the grass, playing guitar, dancing, etc... on the quad - most were completely naked.
I was told it was some kind of club who did it all the time
After since having travelled to about 40 different countries - its still one of the weirdest displays of humanity I have ever seen.
The sad part is there are a lot of great things about Santa Cruz. There are a lot of conservatives around, but they don’t get as much attention, and the local radio station is conservative, and it was there when you visited.
Sounds about right for today’s world
“C is for Crazy, that’s good enough for me!”
