'They Don't Have Stanley Kubrick': Moon Landing Truthers Call BS On India's Moon Landing [Chandrayaan-3]

India made history on Wednesday after their Chandrayaan-3 mission landed safely on the moon’s south pole, cementing itself as the first nation to successfully touch down on the largely unexplored region of the lunar surface.

“All the people of the world, the people of every country and region: India’s successful moon mission is not just India’s alone,” said India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reiterating that “this success belongs to all of humanity.”

But even with Modi’s broad, pseudo-inspirational attribution, not everyone was excited to take credit for the scientific feat — namely, the conspiracy theorists of Reddit who were irked with the bigfoot-esque quality of the spacecraft’s camera.

I've commented prior on the quality of imagery provided by ISRO.

This made me LOL.

I don’t see a 7-11 on the moon, so it had to be fake.

Why is India, a country with 200 million starving people, spending lavishly on a moon mission? What is the point? Make the moon smell like curry, instead of cheese?

“So India just landed on the moon. Anyone think it's weird how the video quality is significantly worse than the U.S. footage from the 1960s?” asked u/SAT0725, who broached the topic on r/Conspiracy.

These people are such idiots. The "good footage" from the 1960's was FILM, which had to be physically brought back from the moon. You first saw it on the nightly network TV news about a week after the astronauts splashed down, because it had to be DEVELOPED in a lab.

The live TV from Apollo 11 was terrible. Initially it was just blobs of white on a dark background. The live TV from Apollo 12 was nonexistent, because the astronauts accidentally pointed their TV camera at the sun and burned it out minutes after the moonwalk started. Apollo 13 didn't land. The live TV from Apollo 14 through 17 was at least watchable, not crisp and clear, but watchable.

Note that all of this was analog TV; digital video basically didn't exist yet.

People need to talk to a science geek who actually lived through this stuff and remembers it, i.e., a science geek in their 60's or older ... like me.

Not even posted here much, India is a strategic competitor to China. This landing was solely aimed at China to keep India 'in the game', ala 'US vs Soviets'. Ironically, the video quality echoes the laughable quality of that from China during their first spacewalk.

Better question: Why is the US spending lavishly on the ukes when there are tens of thousands of homeless veterans in the US under a government which must skew reporting totals out of some perverted motivation to project progress on the glaring symptom of bad governance?

It looked like really bad CGI ...

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, I'm an Occams Razor kinda guy.

With that said ... it looked like REALLY bad CGI. So was it real or not??

During their landing they showed more footage of fat clapping Indians than landing

My guesses..

1. National Pride.

2. The people/ nation that writes all of the computer code, for just about everything just sucessfully proved itself a space faring nation.

3. They have a massive pool of highly educated people. They prove they are on par with all of the “developed” nations.

4. Because Pakistan Can’t.

There is a GREAT movie about the TV transmission of the 1st moon walk called:

The Dish

It’s an Australian movie (the TV transmissions came from a very large dish receiver in Australia).

Very nice and family oriented.

It’s a good thing India didn’t send a monkey up with the Probe. If the little guy survived the deadly Van Allen Belt radiation, the galactic cosmic rays (GCR) and solar particle events (SPE) would “irradiate” him to death 💀

With all the modern technology available, one would think the quality would've had to have been better.

I'm skeptical.

The live TV from Apollo 11 was terrible by today’s standards but for a 9-year old kid to watch live TV of a man walking on the surface of the moon was mind blowing and such a remarkable achievement in 1969 it stands alone in world history

The next thing that will eclipse walking on the moon will be a man walking on Mars, I hope I’m alive to see it

Larger question: Was the 2008 Chinese spacewalk real or not?

https://astroengine.com/2008/10/08/bubbles-reflections-and-space-walks-did-china-really-fake-it/

Probably not. If the Indians wanted to fake a lander video, I’m sure that they could have done it better. India lacks worldwide logistics to support space operations; I’m sure that contributed to the low quality.

But still...the OP article made me laugh.
