Gotta be an oxymoron. Their tanks have 3 gears in reverse.

Oops! I should have mentioned that this Italian force was not permitted tanks or any other weapons. They were volunteer service units, meant to free up American and British troops for front-line duty.

The Italian Army was composed of former prisoners of war who volunteered to fight alongside the Allies after Italy’s surrender in 1943. They formed the Italian Liberation Corps, later renamed the Italian Co-Belligerent Army, and fought in several battles in Italy and France against the German and Italian Fascist forces. Some of the Italian units that participated in the Normandy Campaign were the 28th Infantry Division “Aosta”, the 3rd Alpine Division “Julia”, and the 1st Motorized Group “Cremona”. They were praised for their courage and loyalty by their Allied commanders, and contributed to the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny.

Amateurs study tactics, professionals study logistics. And there were a WHOLE LOT of logistics behind D-Day, the march to the Rhine, and beyond.

Mark Felton has a great YT channel. Same for Drachinifel, History Guy, Yarnhub, Greg’s Airplanes, Armoured Carriers, The Museum of Flight, The Tank Museum (Bovington), Military Aviation History, The History Underground, and Simple History, just to name a few.

I can easily blow an entire lunch break on these without realizing it.

Metatron is also a great history channel for primarily Roman and Medieval topics.
