One thing for sure, these mass murders gave up what info they had. After butchering hundreds of unarmed citizens, a night of being left to the tender mercies of Russian interrogators looks pretty intense.
Everyone seems to dismiss the other seven individuals the Russians arrested. Who are they? What were they doing? Who did they give up under the same methods. No Death Penalty! These idiots should have opted for martyrdom. Life in a Russian prison after what they’ve done will be hell on earth. They deserve every last minute of it.

They’re tough on crime. I’m not saying we need to go this far . . . but the “catch and release” system we have has some serious flaws.
The Nazis did a lot of torture during the war, but they did it for a purpose. Russians did it for fun, or because they were bored.
A lot of suffering goes into getting 72 virgins.

Not supporting torture does not mean someone supports terrorists.
Professional interrogators will tell you that the quality of information you get by torture is poor. A man under torture will tell you anything, true or false. What torture WILL get you is false confessions that suit your narrative.....as Stalin’s thugs proved time and again during the Great Purge.

Russia does not abide by the Geneva Convention or little things like human rights in these kinds of situations. (And in many others.)
And as long as they got the right perpetrators, I frankly don't care. Not being a fanboy of Russia here, just a personal observation about this particular situation.
Problem with torture though is the torturee with say anything, make up anything, to make it stop. So the intel you get is often bad.
