Leftist Web Site Endorses Romney in Michigan Primary
Dallas Blog ^ | January 11, 2008 | Tom McGregor

The liberal Web site Daily Kos is encouraging Democrats in Michigan to cross over and vote for Mitt Romney in Michigan Tuesday primary. Apparently, the thinking of the liberals encouraging the crossover vote is that a Romney victory there will further muddle the Republican presidential picture and help the Democrats win the White House in November.

Fox News reports that “it’s a classic dirty trick, but perfectly legal. And while Machiavellian political ploys of this sort rarely work, the author’s logic is thus: ‘A Romney victory in Michigan will keep him in the presidential race. And the more candidates slugging it out among the Republicans, the better for Democrats.”

In order for Romney to stay competitive, he needs to win in Michigan because John McCain is riding high after his stunning win in the New Hampshire’s primary Tuesday, and Mike Huckabee’s star is still shining bright following his Iowa victory. Romney is spending most of his time campaigning in Michigan and he has repeatedly said that he’s going to win in this state.

A brokered convention would be somewhat chaotic, but could be the Dems worst nightmare if a real conservative comes away with the nomination...JFK

An unknown blogger, who could be anybody.

Writing about an unconfirmed rumor.

On an unheard of web source.

Wow, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for news to slam Romney.

This one takes the cake.

“A brokered convention would be somewhat chaotic, but could be the Dems worst nightmare if a real conservative comes away with the nomination...JFK”

A Romney Win would be good for Fred. It would stop McCain’s March and keep the race wide open giving Fred more time. Since Fred has suddenly found his voice, what he needs now, in addition to money is time. A win for romney in Michigan would help Fred.

Let them do this. I’ll be happy if they help push McCain out of the running there.

The dems are all over the map on their mischief in Michigan.

Democratic state lawmaker praises Huckabee (link only)

A dem state rep ala Detroit says to the press to support Huckabee because he is reminded of Gomer Pyle. (Dem codespeak for sabotage.)

News is no longer "the news". It's all just rumor and innuendo now. Everyone trying to beat everyone else to the story. Pathetic. And Britney Spears. Can't forget her. Ever.

When the dems pulled these shenanigans in 2000 they already had a clear candidate for their party. This year they still need to pick a candidate so I can’t see large numbers crossing over.

Due to the date of the primary the democrats stripped Michigan of all of its delegates. So their votes will only count if they vote for republicans.

That’s what I’m thinking.

At one time I was assuming that Romney fizzels after losing Michigan but, ultimately, If McCain’s momentum is weakened by a Michigan loss, it will hurt McCain in SC and a Romney win in Michigan won’t help him do more than maintain in S.C.

Given that, IMO, anyone who leaves McCain is a good prospective Thompson voter.....I’m rooting for Romney in Michigan.

Daily Kos is a little slow on the uptake. Never read them but now I that have lets see first what the dingleberry writes, (then a quick shower)

>>"In 1972, Republican voters in Michigan decided to make a little mischief, crossing over to vote in the open Democratic primary and voting for segregationist Democrat George Wallace, seriously embarrassing the state's Democrats. In fact, a third of the voters (PDF) in the Democratic primary were Republican crossover votes. In 1988, Republican voters again crossed over, helping Jesse Jackson win the Democratic primary, helping rack up big margins for Jackson in Republican precincts. (Michigan Republicans can clearly be counted on to practice the worst of racial politics.) "

So Republicans are racist when they cross over and voted as spoiler for a segregationist. And Republicans are racist when they voted as spoiler for Jesse Jackson. IOW, no matter what they are racist no matter who they vote for. The logic is astounding.

Now as to why they are slow on the uptake. Rush has been talking about this issue all week. Conservative voters went for Romney in Iowa and NH. Liberals crossed over and went for Huckabee and McCain giving them both wins. Rush has been slamming Muck and HicCain all week about it and it is hurting them. The crossover which helped them win those states has now hurt them thanks to the King of talk radio. Dingleberry here is responding to changing events on the ground (ie Rush calling them out into the open) and now that it is out in the open they suddenly want everyone to think they support Romney which wil hurt him.

>>>If we can help push Mitt over the line, not only do we help keep their field fragmented, but we also pollute Romney's victory. How "legitimate" will the Mittster's victory look if liberals provide the margin of victory? Think of the hilarity that will ensue.

This is an open admission that Rush had a good week. Muck and HicCains wins are not viewed as legitimate by Republicans thanks in part to Rush and other conservative talk radio shows. Liberals know if they don't stop Romney early it's over. They hope to deligitimize his campaign in the way Rush has deligitimized Hicks and MuCkains.

There have not been any new polls in Michigan in a while. I wonder if the pollster are gun shy since Michigan is an open election and it would be harder than normal to determine a likely voter?

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the Obama voters in Michigan all got together and voted for someone like Gravel or Kucinich, and have one of them win. It would be very embarassing for Hillary.
