'Boycott Chuck Norris'
Real Clear Politics ^ | January 25, 2008 | Blake Dvorak

That's the name of a new anti-Huckabee web site started by former Thompson staffer Darrel Ng. Jonathan Martin has more on the site:

Now that his candidate is out of the race, one Thompson staffer has gone the next stop and is actively working against Huck. Sorta.

Darrel Ng, perhaps the heartiest and most dogged of Thompson's aides and somebody who logged many a mile on the Fred bus, has launched a website called "Boycott Chuck Norris."

Yup, Ng now wants people to show their disregard for Huck by not patronizing any companies that use Norris as a pitchman. The actor/exercise maven is, of course, a staple of Huck's campaign, stumping with him throughout the country and even showing up at press conferences.

"I came up with the idea earlier this week, and since I recently found myself with some time on my hands, I decided to put this together," Ng said in an e-mail when asked how the site came about.

It's a pretty angry site and certainly doesn't cast its creator in the most generous light. But then, Ng is entirely correct to say that Norris' advocacy of Huckabee has made him fair game in the political arena.

Um, actually my post had nothing to do with any boycott.
Kind of a little thread hijack.

I like Chuck, and though I am puzzled by his choices, they are his to make.

I don’t know what’s gotten into to Chuck Norris. His endorsement of Huck is sad.

I’ve been boycotting Chuck for over 30 years, he’s always been referred to as F*** Norris at my house. Nothing personal (at least until lately), I just abhor martial arts movies, I also call Jean-Claude Van Damme “Van Dammit”. However, Norris has gotten to the point lately where he reminds me of William Shatner...he’s just extremely annoying and an embarrassment to himself in public.

As a Fred supporter I think this boycott is ridiculous. Mr. Ng is upset because he gave up a $110,280 job back in September to work for Fred. That's a risk one takes in politics, especially in the primaries.

It looks like Mr. Ng is not squeaky clean either:

In 2002, while serving as spokesman for California's outgoing Secretary of State's gubernatoral campaign, Ng was in the spotlight for another Internet campaign on behalf of his boss, Bill Jones. Despite the state's anti-spam law, the campaign sent out thousands of unsolicited e-mails urging California voters to vote for Jones in the upcoming primary. It was the third wave of what many considered spam by the campaign.

Ng defended the mailings, saying they weren't spam, but instead an "innovative way to use the Internet," reported Wired News.

Ng says his current innovative way of using the Internet won't stop until Chuck Norris is no longer affiliated with the view that evolution does not exist and the idea that AIDS patients should be isolated. Only then will he end his personal boycott and urge others to do the same.
