Panic Time for Obama … McCain/Palin Gets Bounce and Poll Trending in their Favor (Gallup & Zogby)
Scared Monkeys ^ | September 7, 2008

Now that’s a bounce and a half …

Obama, Biden, the LEFT and the MSM can complain all they want in their efforts to discredit Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, the truth of the matter is that their efforts are failing and the favorable trend of the McCain/Biden ticket is on the up-swing. The LEFT does not have the right to tell McCain how he is to run their campaign … Obama and his crew only have the right and ability to run theirs in the manner they seem fit. In all honesty, the Obama campaign has been run terribly of late.

The once candidate of Change has been anything but and is seeing his poll number go down the drain. Obama had a chance for change by choosing a woman for his VP. Obama did not and he now gets to witness the consequences. McCain to the chance and showed America who the real candidate of change really is.

In polling land all signs are pointing to an incredibly favorable trend to John McCain and Sarah Palin. The bounce from the Republican National Convention is ongoing as the momentum from the Palin phenomenon and McCain’s most watched speech is paying dividends.

The Gallup Daily tracking poll has McCain up by 3% points ahead of Obama. Not too long ago Obama had an 8 point advantage. These results of the Gallup poll are based on September 4-6 interviewing. As Hot Air points out the McCain advantage is outside the margin of error.

McCain’s 48% share of the vote ties for his largest since Gallup tracking began in early March. He registered the same level of support in early May. This is also McCain’s largest advantage over Obama since early May, when he led by as much as six percentage points. Obama has led McCain for most of the campaign, and for nearly all of the time since clinching the Democratic nomination in early June.

Earlier, Zogby had shown that McCain had taken the lead by a rather substantial margin 49.7% to 45.9%.Todays Gallup poll certainly confirms that the bounce is still in play and trending upward for McCain. Think the Obama camp is not worried? They most certainly are.

I’d be curious to know how she’s being received in Cali.

It ain’t “game over”, though it is a nice start at punching out the Obama campaign. The Dems have got a pile of cash and the media selling team Obama to beat the band!

Also at issue is the fact that it doesn’t really matter what the points are if the electoral map breaks the wrong way.

Something else to look forward to; the debates. I think they will give favor to McCain/Palin; lots of off the cuff “uhhms” by Barry and The Resonator driving through Biden like a train.

How is McCain doing in the swing states?

Can't answer that - I'm in Texas which is safely McCain - YEE-HAWW!!!! :-)

There was an article in the weekend WSJ that said that McCain has Michigan in play for the GOP for the first time in twenty years.

I am hopeful and prayerful that the nation will come to its senses and reject BHO and his veiled marxism.

Sounds like it might be "game over" to me.

It's been over.  We just had to wait for the MSM and pollsters to catch up.

You’re right. I’m continuing to hover at the point of giving money to McCain. I knew I’d probably grudgingly vote for him, but would NEVER give him money. I guess I feel a bit like Dennis Prager says he felt the first time he voted Republican. He said it was harder than when he broke kosher as an experiment.

I can’t think of a time I’ve ever liked, trusted, or (politically) respected McCain. I still don’t, really. But Palin changes the calculation. I just wish he’d credibly promise never to apologize for her or backstab her, between now and the election.

My bumper sticker would be the “McWhatshisname / Palin” one.

I am definitely giving money this time and the last time I did was 2000.

I felt that we had the election in the bag in 2004 and no way was Kerry going to win.

This time I was not so sure seeing our side’s enthusiasm levels even lower than 2006 and now this has changed 180 degrees and has electrified our side and am more confident than 2004, but am still going to donate and try to volunteer if I am not traveling for work.

Strongly agree. We must all remember that what goes up must come down - the sun, political icons and people’s opinions. God gave us another chance - we better not screw this one up! Being cocky does not become anyone.

The more McCain stays up the more likely it is that Obama’s support continues to evaporate, especially among the young. They won’t want to be seen backing a loser.

Also there are a fair number of whites who have fallen victim to supporting Obama due to the liberal racism guilt trip.

Also at issue is the fact that it doesn’t really matter what the points are if the electoral map breaks the wrong way.

If McCain has a 5 point lead, it doesn't matter. That translates into a significant landslide. Michigan, Penn, Minn, Wisc would all swing to the GOP.

I grew up in Texas, and I still have lots of family and friends there. I either get the liberal California spin, or the republican Texas spin.

I haven’t even asked what my friends (except a few conservative ones) what they think of Palin. I try not to talk politics around here.

I really wish people around here wouldn't declare "game over" just yet. Two months is an eternity.

That said, the fact that the Snob enjoyed absolutely no bounce post-convention and in fact a slide, and that McCain-Palin have a big bounce is pretty significant. The Snob really wears thin and I think that the backlash against the MSM's religious fervor over his has only just begun. Despite all that, the deck is still stacked against McCain and his campaign as well as all of us amongst the grass roots need to be on our A Game until November.

That’s why it’s called a bounce. When the numbers get back to a dead heat, and they probably will, don’t despair. Keep a stable demeanor no matter what the polls say, especially 2 months away from the election.

It’s going to be very hard for the Republicans to regain control of Congress...a lot of Democrats who may not want to risk the country’s welfare in Obama’s hands may be comfortable with their local Congressman and split their tickets, and the Senate has a lot more vulnerable Republican seats (e.g., the one in Virginia) than Democratic ones. The main thing in the Senate is to minimize losses so the ‘Rats don’t have a 60-seat majority.

“We can’t afford to think we are winning”

True, Remember how much the libs hate Bush — they are rabid in their rage against the Republicans. They will pour out to the polls on election day like when the colony falls from the roof in Ratatouille.

I wonder if Obama will change his mind, which is usual for him, and say that life begins at conception since it is now within his pay grade. I agree with Rush, “If life doesn't begin at conception, then why bother with birth control???” As it says in the Holy Bible, “Where there is blood, there is LIFE!” I know that verse is in Romans, but I can't quote the verse.

Amen. I can't see any of those States going for Obama.

Since the revelations about his church came out, Obama's campaign has never recovered.

Or as Guiliani said - in perhaps the greatest (non-Palin,of course) line in the convention: “Hope Biden’s got that VP thing in writing!” LMAO!!!
