Illinois GOP and Tea Party Activists shut down freedom of speech
Self | 8/21/2010 | Rosanna Pulido

Posted on 08/21/2010 6:21:34 PM PDT by chicagolady

I am returning from a Republican Picnic and what I witnessed is absolutely astounding. I have been on the forefront of the illegal immigration battle, including being one of the original Minutemen on the Arizona/Mexico border in 2005 for the Original Minuteman Border watch.

With all the talk of Tea Parties and bringing back the Constitution, I learned it's just that. a LOT of talk.

I do not need to give most of you the run down on illegal immigration and Illinois. Or the shambles the Democratic and Republican parties ( Is There any difference?)have left Illinois in.

The Illinois Republican candidate for Governor announced that he had NO opinion on The Arizona law SB1070. Then weeks later he came out with his infinate wisdom. He supports MORE LEGAL immigration.

With that being said, I was asked to come up to the microphone today and give a few words on whats going on with illegal immigration.

This is what I said and as far as I got before the Microphone was shut off: I said folks, SAVING THE AMERICAN WORKER is what it's all about!

Will you please ask Bill Brady, (Illinois GOP gubernatorial Candidate)how will MORE Legal immigration help the 25 Million Americans who are out of work?

At that point the microphone was shut off because the State Chairman of Lake County BOB COOK, said I was bashing Bill Brady, the Republican Candidate for Governor.

I said " I told the voters to ask Bill how more legal immigration would help unemployed Americans, I did not BASH HIM!" To which Bob Cook replied, yes it is bashing.

This is the same group that is telling people they MUST vote for MARK KIRK who can't tell the truth to save his life and votes Ultra-Liberal all the time.

Anyway, the moral of the story is, these people use the phrase upholding the Constitution every chance they get.

Have they EVER heard of FREE SPEECH??

With all due respect Ms. Pulido, you ought to start your own Tea Party (Group) it belongs to everyone- and yet “no one” that’s the beauty of it; you don’t like what ONE group is doing START YOUR OWN!

Then ask tough questions and make these politcians from both (and smaller parties) accountable to the people.. (get creative) and though it may take a long time, if you do this and root them out, you will eventually win!

Randy Stufflebeam Constitution Party. He knows the Constitution forward and back. He is a 22 year Marine Veteran! The Illinois GOP is spending BIG DOLLARS trying to throw him OFF the ballot!

ABC 7 News did a piece on it this past week.

LOL!! Legal Immigration? Bill Brady wants to LEGALIZE 30 Million illegal aliens WHILE 25 million of YOUR fellow AMERICANS are OUT OF WORK and are losing their houses?

We need to stop any kind of immigration right now until OUR unemployment rate in the United States is at 3%.

Sorry, I stand up for my Fellow Americans who are suffering. NOT people who broke the law to come here now want to be legalized.

Hillbuzz has been moaning all summer about the Illinois GOP. They first encountered them as volunteers for Dems for McCain or whatever that thing was called. From all I can tell, they are every bit as corrupt as the Democrats, most of them.

Must be something in the water in Chicago. Disturbing.

Doesn’t the First Amendment guarantee that the *government* cannot preclude anyone from saying or printing what they want?

If the people that put together the rally today didn’t like what you were saying over the microphone, or their stage, that they paid for, it’s got nothing to do with your freedom of speech. You have every right in the country to say whatever you want about illegal immigration, anywhere. Please, come to New Jersey, where I live, and talk about it! We have cities full of illegal immigrants. They overwhelm neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, and drive down prevailing wages.

But you may have to pay for your own microphone of leaflet printing, just like in Illinois.

You should probably go directly to the Illinois Tea Party blog or websites or newspaper comment lines to talk about it.

But it’s not an abolition of your “Freedom of Speech rights” if they don’t want you to speak at their rally about a position they disagree with. They paid for the mike and the stage.

"Were you the one paying for the microphone, the PA and all costs associated with the rally? Was it a government official that cut off your microphone? If not, your First Amendment Rights were not violated."

Thank you. Our constitutional right to free speech is all about preventing the government from restricting our speech. As with the rest of the constitution, it is a limitation on the role of government. The right to free speech does not guarantee anyone the right to have a venue provided for one's speech, anymore than the 2nd Amendment guarantees one the right to have arms provided to them.

I have heard of “free speach” - as have many.

Maybe you can point out to your readers - what - precisely - part of the local, state, or federal government is “the tea party” organizers of the shindig you attended? In what way was the Constitution disrespected?

Read the words. This has nothing to do with Constitutionally protected speach. maybe if you are this thoughtful and careful in you prepared remarks, they were correct to turn off the mic.

If you want to complain that it was impolite, or odd, or an error, or not cool in your opinion - go ahead. But please.

I get your point, BUT I never said it had anything to with local, state, or federal government

We have high unemployment because of Obama promoting and getting his version of a workers paradise, not because of legal Immigration. I would be happy with the feds stopping illegal immigration, but we can’t even get them to do that. Legal immigrants have at least one good thing on their side, that I really support. THE LAW

It is the way this politician is avoiding this issue. He is pushing for Amnesty, That would make them LEGAL. That’s the kind of LEGAL immigration he means.

He’s a COWARD. and it is NOT the WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!

I am trying to do my homework - and please don’t flame me - I am trying to figure out where the Renaissance PAC comes in to all of this mess. It seems the established IL-GOP is linked at the hip to the IL-DEMS in a cover-your-butt-protection scheme/partnership. Does the third party route have a snowball’s chance in Illinois?

“I was asked to come up to the microphone today and give a few words on whats going on with illegal immigration.”

But when they found that they didn’t like what you had to say, they cut off your microphone. Like Reagan you had something to say, you were invited then they shut you down. It’s no different from what the demomorons did to Rove and Coulter.
I’m just trying to connect-the-dots for those who seem to be proliferating here lately. Hang in there, chicagolady—it just wasn’t worth chewing through the straps on days like this when you find yourself casting pearls before swine...

“The democrats want the illegals to vote and not work; the republicans want the illegals to work and not vote.”
-Dick Morris

Unfortunatley, my friend, you’ve stumbled onto the great truth that no one in the power structure of either major political party cares one bit about the fate of the middle class American worker.

So, you’re against LEGAL immigration?

LEGAL immigration?

Where people get into this country by playing by the rules?

You’re against THAT kind of immigration?

In an America with unemployment that is "officially" just this side of 10% (and more accurately is around 16%), yes. With the possible caveat that other countries use: if you have several million dollars in assets that you're going to bring with you and you promise to start a business we'll give you a green card.

So, you’re against LEGAL immigration?

Many of us are, we filled up 40 years ago, there is no reason to accept unlimited population growth by importing millions of foreigners forever.

Outside of a little 20 or 50,000 or so for various reasons, we don't need to continue to fill up our space and destroy our culture with endless mass immigration.

There is more to our nation than simply work, housing , and feeding for a faceless, endless mass of foreigners with dual citizenship, do you want 100 million more, 300 million, 700 million, 1200 million? Personally I liked America at about 200 million.
