FLASH: Oregon Wants Palin!
The Source Weekly ^ | November 17, 2010 | H. Bruce Miller

Posted on 11/17/2010 5:54:19 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

I damn near lost my breakfast when I pulled up the Oregon Catalyst site this morning and glanced at the item headlined: “Oregon’s Top 2012 Presidential Picks.”

Under the headline was a bar graph showing the percentage of support for each of 10 likely or possible 2012 presidential prospects. Topping the list was Sarah Palin, with an astonishing 31%. In the Number Two spot was former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 24%, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney running third at 21%.

Bringing up the rear, in descending order, were former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, Michelle Bachman, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Arizona Sen. John McCain, and some guy named Barack Obama.

I knew Oregon, like the rest of the country, had undergone a shift to the right in the last election, with Republican governor candidate Chris Dudley almost knocking off Democrat John Kitzhaber and the Republicans taking control of half of the state legislature. But if 31% of my fellow Oregonians want Sarah Palin to be the next president, I figured I’d better look for a more liberal state to live in.

Like Texas, maybe.

I felt better after reading the small print, which informed me that the numbers came from “a straw poll of approximately 400 taxpayer activists” taken by the Taxpayer Association of Oregon PAC, a right-wing, anti-tax organization.

Pretty typical of conservatives, I thought, to take a poll of themselves and present the results as representing the whole state. And perhaps typical of the thinking of the Palinistas was this anonymous comment: “I like Sarah's new show on TLC, she's got great legs too.”

Well, they’re not bad for a 46-year-old woman, but I wouldn't call them great.

Only problem is, there’s like what, fifty Republicans in the whole state of Oregon?

That's what the libtards want ya to believe. But, we are badly outnumbered in the Portland Metro area. Heck, right now the political reality is that in a statewide vote the rat wins if he gets 66% of the Portland vote. And it's all vote by mail so you know it's all above board.

LOL I guess no one in Oregon reads the posts here at FR by all the people who “really really like her” but just KNOW FOR A FACT she can’t possibly win.

Why do to they know?

How do they know?

Oh, they just DO.

Gotcha title.

“I felt better after reading the small print, which informed me that the numbers came from “a straw poll of approximately 400 taxpayer activists” taken by the Taxpayer Association of Oregon PAC, a right-wing, anti-tax organization. “

400 taxpayer activists aren’t voters and influencers? Their opinions don’t mean as much as much as 400 random people with phones?

“was Wyden even challenged?”

Amazingly, the Republicans had a terrific slate of candidates this year, including Jim Huffman against Wyden. Unfortunately, we need lots more $’s for campaigns. I hope Huffman tries again against Merkley.

I can't imagine a scenario where Wyden wouldn't be reelected in a landslide.

“I can’t imagine a scenario where Wyden wouldn’t be reelected in a landslide.”

I thought the same about Feingold.

Thought of you when we were on a road trip to Lancaster Mall Sunday.

KV has had so much Sarah spirit in the home I need respite. LOL

I have not seen him so jazzed since Alan Keyes for President (the first run) days.

It is a good thing.

To keep my energy levels up I have been doing many fasting days and Fish Friday penance.

Life is good. : )
