Not a fan: Krauthammer calls Palin 'rather weak' and gives her 'no chance of winning' in 2012

Is the idea that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could be America’s next president laughable? Not only to many on the left, but also to conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer.

On Friday’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Krauthammer offered several reasons why Palin shouldn’t be considered the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2012 presidential election.

“What do you mean if not Sarah Palin in 2012?” Krauthammer said. “Who’s saying she’s going to be the presidential candidate? I don’t even hear her saying it. Her chances of being are smaller than half a dozen other people. If you talk to Republicans, I don’t think there are what, more than one in three who would tell you she has a chance of winning the presidency or even the nomination.”

Because of that, he said, she wasn’t the favorite.

“And she is not the favorite,” he continued. “She has a very strong core constituency but outside of that I think she is rather weak.”

Krauthammer has previously downplayed Palin’s chances and indicated he favors Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. He said Palin would not be the ideal candidate to unseat a “vulnerable” President Barack Obama.

“Her negatives are over 50 percent,” Krauthammer said. “She has no chance of winning a general election. Why would you want a candidate who is going to lose against a Democrat who is going to be vulnerable and who is also extremely ideologically ambitious?”

He even employed a Keith Olbermann catch phrase to describe Palin and said even fellow Republicans didn’t see Palin as qualified.

“A half-term governor? I’m not sure Republicans think of her as qualified.” Krauthammer said.

Attacking Palin right now seems to be the theme at FOX, Very odd. They are attacking their own commentator.

To all whom thinks she can't win, I say, who right now in the GOP can beat her? I will let you take your pick and bet $500.00 that Sarah will beat that person in the Primaries!

Sarah was not a quitter when she stepped down as Governor, she had a nation to save!

If she doesn’t run for President, then I will call her a Quitter!

Sarah can win if those opposed to the Obamaites unite and work to make it happen. My reliable Republican vote will no longer be there for another candidate foisted on us with the assumption that we will vote for them because of the RAT alternative. The Republican candidate will have to have more than an R after their name. Also, something has to be done about the primaries which produce a candidate that is selected by a relative few states. I will never vote for the democrat party which is now totally owned by the socialist/communist/progressives and is anti America to the core. I do have other options such as writing in a name or voting third party. Sarah Palin is the only person right now who is prepared and capable of running for President on the Republican ticket. Fine with me if more candidates show up but they better get out in the open soon or Sarah will leave them at the gate still trying to make up their minds.

Without any malice, my friend, it is you that needs to grow up!!! First of all, I only “defend’ Ms. Palin becasue she along with many others could be a means to end. The means is the important path. It’s simple,”big government” must be curtailed immensely if the USA is to survive as the world’s leading nation. It’s simple, “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH”!!! My own choice, be it known, would be Governor Mitch Daniels for POTUS & Marco Rubio for VP, as of this moment. However, pundits like Krauthammer, just simply sit and judge things as they are today. Very few pundits on all sides ever are gifted with what I call strategic thinking creativeness. Two years is a long time in politics and...I believe this coming January 5th is going to usher in a whole different ballgame then we have witnessed over these “failure” Obama/Democrat/Liberal years of left-wing/socialist control. Krauthammer and Rove badmouthing Palin is just pure and simple a waste of time. Ms. Palin is indeed a powerful contender among many. But, the march of time and events will determine her fate as well as others, not some blabbering political pundit, IMHO!!!

“As much as I would love it if Sarah Palin became our President...I’m afraid she cannot.”

“Thank you for your “concern”. Now, please step aside and let the Governor through. She’s got an appointment with destiny.”

I’m a latecomer to this thread (as I am to most threads).

Yes, I will concede that Sarah Palin may be a bit less “experienced” than many “professional” politicians. No question about that.

But she has something they don’t have — a quality most of them NEVER had. Something most of them will never know, because it’s just not in them.

Like the character of “Maddie” in the Charles Portis novel, Sarah Palin has “The True Grit”.

It’s not easy to explain, to diagnose, to write about or — if one is a talking head as is Mr. Krauthammer [who I like] — analyze and comment about. (Aside: this is all the more frustrating for Krauthammer because he is a psychiatrist by profession.)

This is what confounds the elites, while Ms. Palin “connects” with the unwashed.

That late actor/cowboy guy who rode all the way to the top had it, too.... :)

I'd still like to know how HeSoSmart got into med school with a lib arts degree.

If you know some docs, ask what their undergrad major was. I've known quite a few, and very seldom do I meet one who did not get an undergrad in bio or chem or some kind of engineering.

I suspect the Kraut got his MD through family connections. He's also a Canadian, which would make getting into a US med school just a little harder for someone without pull--

Hey, Kraut, did you really take all those hard science prereqs? Did your lack of math smarts make you decide to be a shrink instead of a cardiologist?

Yes. If he was the nominee I would. There would be a stark difference between him and Obama.

Well, lets just attack and denounce and ridicule anyone who has even some good conservative credentials and for the most part does a good job in his pundatry...

these kind of comments are so like the Libs...”they eat their own too..”

In stepping down from her position as Governor, Palin drew fire away from the people she took an oath to serve.

That’s the MO of some hereon. I often disagree with CK’s positions but it looks foolish trying to paint him as a dummy because he chose to go into psychiatry instead of cardiology (of course it’s really because he doesn’t like Sarah’s chances - if he did he’d be the greatest doc since Albert Schweitzer).
