Not a fan: Krauthammer calls Palin 'rather weak' and gives her 'no chance of winning' in 2012

Is the idea that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin could be America’s next president laughable? Not only to many on the left, but also to conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer.

On Friday’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Krauthammer offered several reasons why Palin shouldn’t be considered the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2012 presidential election.

“What do you mean if not Sarah Palin in 2012?” Krauthammer said. “Who’s saying she’s going to be the presidential candidate? I don’t even hear her saying it. Her chances of being are smaller than half a dozen other people. If you talk to Republicans, I don’t think there are what, more than one in three who would tell you she has a chance of winning the presidency or even the nomination.”

Because of that, he said, she wasn’t the favorite.

“And she is not the favorite,” he continued. “She has a very strong core constituency but outside of that I think she is rather weak.”

Krauthammer has previously downplayed Palin’s chances and indicated he favors Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. He said Palin would not be the ideal candidate to unseat a “vulnerable” President Barack Obama.

“Her negatives are over 50 percent,” Krauthammer said. “She has no chance of winning a general election. Why would you want a candidate who is going to lose against a Democrat who is going to be vulnerable and who is also extremely ideologically ambitious?”

He even employed a Keith Olbermann catch phrase to describe Palin and said even fellow Republicans didn’t see Palin as qualified.

“A half-term governor? I’m not sure Republicans think of her as qualified.” Krauthammer said.

“Whenever given a choice between personal gain and moral or public duty, Palin has always chosen duty.”

She hasn’t had any personal gain since stepping down?? Required disclaimer: I’m all for her making as much as she possibly can and I will vote for her if she’s the candidate. However, I can’t reconcile your statement with what’s transpired since she resigned.

Thats what they call a real head scratcher. Something said that the facts don’t seem to support.

Oh well. To each his own. Who cares about lil’ ole things like reality anyway? LOL

You’re exactly right. The dems have the media in their back pocket and they hate Palin more than anything in the world. She has zero chance of winning. Personally, I like her and I like her message. But I’m also a realist. Anyway, good post. Sorry for all the namecalling you’ve experienced in response to it.

And you’re on this thread again this year, like a simpering idiot inserting himself into exchanges uninvited.

Repeating:

Did you ever get around to mentioning someone you think is more qualified?

Asking rhetorically. Since you haven’t.

It would make more sense, for those whose primary focus seems to be undermining fellow Republicans - to focus on the opposition.

In a football game, you don’t see players blocking their own teammates.

So why do some do that here?...

Ok, for the third (or fourth) time, since you really seem to have a problem with reading comprehension: I don’t know of anyone more qualified than Palin at the moment, and none may appear...although I will certainly vote for that person if he/she does appear. There’s a scarcity of strong conservative contenders, although in two years a lot could happen and others may come to the forefront. I will vote for her if she’s our candidate, but to sit there and pretend that it’s a consensus that resigning her governorship is somehow a political plus for her is ludicrous. It’s the biggest single negative she’ll have to confront, contrary to those hereon who have laughably declared that she has no negatives. Get a grip on your mania. Or not. I’m not explaining it you again.

Your alleged readiness to support Palin should she win the nomination, seems somewhat contradicted by your eagerness to express doubt about her.

And you already claimed you were not answering, yesterday.

Perhaps readers shouldn’t believe your claim of support for her, either.

How about, if you don’t have anything good to say about her, don’t say anything. What’s the point, of just whining?

We’ve already got the media left, and democrats, for that.

“Your alleged readiness to support Palin should she win the nomination, seems somewhat contradicted by your eagerness to express doubt about her.”

Only to someone with blind devotion does that present a philosophical delimma. I’m not trying to convince you of my support for her, I was merely stating a fact about my voting intentions should she become the nominee. I assure you, I’m NOT committed to her to the depth of my soul like you are; she’s a politician (or rather, she may become one again), and if a better one comes along I’ll vote for that person instead, like any rational voter should do.

“How about, if you don’t have anything good to say about her, don’t say anything”

How about you study up on that First Amendment thing? If she runs, you’re gonna have a nervous breakdown.

I don't "own" Kraut. I find him to be a dreadful snob. He's exactly the kind of pundit I'd like to "unelect" except he does not run for office. He's just a tiny bit to the right of David Brooks.

Who made him so important, anyway? What does he do except feather his own "intelligentsia" nest? Why do you seem to think I owe him some sort of loyalty? I see him taking absolutely no risks for conservatism.

And I'd like to know how he got into medical school in the US with a liberal arts degree and Canadian citizenship. If you knew a little bit about how competitive med schools were when Kraut got in, you might be a little curious yourself.

Well, lets just attack and denounce and ridicule anyone who has even some good conservative credentials and for the most part does a good job in his pundatry...

Krauthammer is a stealth communist, just following the Gramscian "long march through the institutions" directive. And he is certainly not the only one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Krauthammer

In 1978, Krauthammer quit medical practice to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Jimmy Carter administration, and began contributing to The New Republic magazine. During the presidential campaign of 1980, Krauthammer served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale.
