Bill Kristol, the influential Weekly Standard editor, is a famously opportunistic pundit. So it's very bad news for Sarah Palin that even Kristol appears to have given up on a Palin presidential campaign this year.
Kristol went out of his way on MSNBC this morning to express disappointment with Palin, a striking shift for a man who has been Palin's most prominent champion in the press since he met her on a cruise in Alaska in 2007.

My wife was studying for her Bible group today. The subject was Abraham, Sarah, Isaiah and Ishmael.
I was biting my tongue, wanting to chime in on the coincidence that there is another Sarah who is poised to battle the children of Ishmael.
What is even funnier is how these liberal assclowns say that the GOP is turning on her..guess what..NO ONE in the GOP ever defended this woman..from the moment that she was announced as McCain’s running mate, did anyone from the GOP ever stand up and defend her against all of the lies and slander..of course not..she didn’t need those fools then and she doesn’t need them now..oh, and ANYONE and I mean ANYONE that can go on MSNBC I cannot respect..I am sick and tired of these so-called Conservatives coddling up to Dems
because of her widely panned video response to the tragedyHer response TO THE MEDIA was very critical OF THE MEDIA and then was "widely panned" BY THE MEDIA.
Sounds like Bill is just begging for Sarah to come sweep him off his feet again. I too want to hear more of her serious, policy-wonk side in a campaign, so I understand his eagerness.
Obsessive-Palin disorder (OPD) is an anxiety disorder in which liberal media members have unwanted and repeated thoughts of telling themselves that Sarah Palin has no shot at the presidency.
Often the leftist shill carries out the behaviors to get rid of the obsessive thoughts by making up stories about Ms Palin. But this only provides temporary relief. Not writing Palin hit pieces can cause great anxiety. A liberal’s level of OPD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person’s capacity to function.

You know what’s a real shame, Sarah Palin gets up in the morning, looks around, and sees she has NO ONE in the GOP that will be there for her, not one single person. I wonder, if Reagan were still alive, would anyone in the GOP defend him or just call him a moron and walk away

Let me make it crystal clear. Krystal is NO conservative.
This is Salon’s poisonous spin on an interview I heard differently.
I was watching the Morning Blow show today ‘cause I heard Kristol and Rand Paul were going to be on (Rand Paul was terrific).
Kristol, as is pretty obvious, isn’t a movement conservative. But his answer was in followup to some thuggish b.s. by the giant turdpile John Heileman who wanted Kristol to renounce all the Republicans who were “crazy” and unqualified etc. etc.
Kristol is not a streetfighter either. But he refused to accede to the Morning Joe gang (he was there to plug a book of his dad’s essays) and while he did express disappointment in Sarah he said not only that she was shrewd but that she was young and very bright and had more elections ahead of her.
I think he was right in saying that after Sarah left the governorship she was beautifully positioned to define herself and to lay out some key policy positions that might have helped carry her forward.
But he’s right, she is young, and she keeps her own counsel, and sometimes those qualities cut both ways.
Kristol recognized Sarah’s brilliance very early on and he stood up for her then and has stuck with her far beyond most in his set——who are PUNDITS not politicians, not activists, not campaigners.
Yes, Kristol has some of the opportunist in him too but he hasn’t done wrong by Sarah. The media onslaught against SP has scared away many who view themselves as made of much tougher stuff than he.
